You read fanfiction? ;)

Since a few years, and basically only HP ;)

I remember that at the time of the Potter hype, I'd heard of these type of "Pottersites", but thought that all it was was some idiotic onedimensional "fans" screaming "Harry should get .... as his girlfriend" - "Oh no, ridiculous, it should be ...." etc. at each other, and I wasn't interested in that at all, I just like a good story. Then a few years ago I googled for something else, happened to get a FFnet result, read the story just because, and liked it.

A lot of fanfiction is really really bad, but some of it is quite good and a lot of it is funny. I think the good thing about it is that, since all characters are basically 'known' already, an author doesn't need to spend a lot of time introducing everybody, and can get on with his or her own story - and some of the twists they give to those 'known' stories are quite impressive. Of course, since there are so many HP fans around the world, there are thousands of HP fanfics, and it isn't very difficult to find a few good authors. I read a number of fics for fun, then go back to more serious reading depending on my mood - but every now and then I go back to see if I can find something new again ;).
