OK, I've been googling and "paragraph double three" seems to be a figure in skating. I coudn't find an image clear enough to see what it is, though.

Helanren 07-02-2011 11:07 AM

Re: Hangman

And we have winner :arms:

It is one of the compulsory figures in figure skating, or rather it was until they decided to eliminate them from international competitions. This thrilling videoclip from the 2007 World Roller Skating Championships (they still remain a part of artistic roller skating) perhaps shows why....

Of course, figure skating cannot be considered a real sport, so I admit it was a bit sneaky....

Your turn :jossun:

Re: Hangman

 "A bit sneaky" he said?
This is from the dictionary about the word "figure":
A person, especially a well-known one: a famous historical figure.
b. A person's public image or presence: became a tragic figure overnight
I was googling "sports + person + three" in various combinations but dismissing this skating term completely....
I like it

Can you spare an A ?

My dictionary gave me the go ahead though :

Re: Hangman

In fact the word "figure" in Spanish almost only has the meaning of "shapes, certain movements ending in a specific way"... that's how I found it... googling in Spanish

Bolaf 07-02-2011 08:12 PM

Re: Hangman

Right now I'm listening this tune on youtube. Nice headbang number. And the lyrics at the beginning are a pun, btw.

Bruja 07-02-2011 08:25 PM

Re: Hangman

My German is nearly non-existent... When someone solves it, could you explain the pun, please? (I had a hard time with my dictionary trying to translate the song. There are translations everywhere, but they're usually so bad....)
Ahhhh! My translation was good, but I was using just the written text, fortunately wiki has a nice explanation

pearla59 07-02-2011 11:09 PM

Re: Hangman

The answer is clear now. But wihthout Bolaf "intervention" I would have never guessed the band and/or the song. Not only that I am not familiar with heavy metal music, the lyrics are in a language that I never mastered. But I did get the pun(s)...

celli 07-03-2011 02:25 PM

Re: Hangman

OK see, I had never heard of this band before, nor - obviously - of the song. Not that strange, as I'm not much into heavy metal (I'm too old for that)
So now I have heard the song and read the lyrics (not much to read there  ), well what shall I say? I like the Du hast mich vs Du hasst mich(You have me vs You hate me), but the rest of it is quite repetative and not so interesting (I think, sorry)
Anyway it's Rammstein, Du hast

Bruja 07-04-2011 09:43 AM

Re: Hangman

Mmmmm... I'd swear I had already answered saying "yes", but I can't see my post any more. Never mind, yes it is... and if my previous post appears suddently, well, it's just a question of merging them, I guess.

(And as I said in the missing post, in fact I prefer "feuer frei", but it has too many e's, and I know you don't like easy things )
Your turn, Celli
