I'm not finnish, but at the age of 18 I had concrete plans to go to OULU as an au pair. Then I opted not to go, have been wondering ever since what I missed :)

In 1982, the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) produced a television mini-series called Rauta-aika (The Age of Iron). With music composed by Aulis Sallinen and the book by Paavo Haavikko. The series was set "during the Kalevala times" and based upon events which take place in The Kalevala.[102][103] The series' part 3/4 won Prix Italia in 1983.

The martial arts film Jadesoturi (aka Jade Warrior), released in Finland on October 13, 2006, is based upon the Kalevala and set in Finland and China.[104]

You found it pearla, Kalevala, first had me wondering what you meant about a film, didn't know there was one, and not sure I want to see it. The book, nonetheless, is still on my reading list...

So pearla is next and can decide whether she wants to stay with the theme :lol:
