That's good but how would y'all distinguish between someone who is merely trying to be helpful and someone who is trying to moderate?

As for members who post with indication towards game duplication or even those reporting a bad post or whatever, this is a part of our job as members of this site, yeah? That's pretty much a gimme.

I can't speak for everyone, but you can generally tell when someone is just being helpful, as oppose to trying to mod.

I know it's hard to convey emotions online, but a post does have a certain tone to it, and people who try to moderate, are usually a little more agressive with their phrasing.
They will order, rather than coerce.

We do promote the use of the report bad post button, because this way, the potential problem is dealt with directly by a mod, with no need for another member to become involved and therefore friction tends to be avoided, (people expect a mod to do something about it, but not another member).

So, I just use my judgement

I think as a supermod you are the perfect person to clear that up for us

I find it funny that there are mods, then SUPERmods.

I always think of someone flying around taking care of the normal mods!

What is the difference between normal mods and supermods anyway? What can SM's do that normal mods can't?

No seriously, we just have access to more features in mod cp than normal mods.
For instance, we can change things in peoples profiles. Like avatars, signatures etc...plus a lot more, but generally, the supermod, is the one mods go to first should they have a problem..if they can't deal with it..then it goes to an admin.

Another quick question. Can a moderator only edit posts etc. in specified forums? Or can they moderate the entire site?

Supermods have more access in the moderator CP, basically.
They have the ability to change more of a member's details if required, for example if someone has something non PG 13 in their sig, and they're not online we can't ask them to edit it, so we just do it, and PM them to tell them why.

Of course mods can change certain things as well, but not to the extend of SM's.

I'm sure there are other things as well, but I'm too tired to think of them right now!

We can edit posts in any forum, not just the ones allocated to us.

Pokey, we do have our assigned areas, but if we come across something out of our area that needs dealing with, then we will deal with it. Mostly though, we stick to the forums we are assigned to
