This is happening to me as well. But I am getting a 403 Forbidden. It doesnt matter if I use IE or FF or Opera I still get that. It will work on my PC at work but not at Home. Does anyone have a clue as to why this is happening.. I noticed that several people have posted this problem.

I talked with the girl but nothing happens, then I wandered around in the house, talked again and it worked. But you need some pages in your book. Without them she won't talk to you. I had the pages, so there might be something more? Don't give up, just try later.
Hi can anyone give me some help with the basement NW. Don't know what to do with those symbols. Also can't find guy to talk to in basement and can't figure out conversation with girl. Such a nice game but very complicated i guess. Thanks for any help!
You're right, what I was calling a sword is actually a dagger.
The tile puzzle in the basement? The clue for that is in the book by one of the scales in the library,
the one with the many pages about the 9-button puzzle in the same basement room you're in. Look at the last page

What exactly do you mean? Where exactly are you? Are you in the room with something like glass walls and symbols on it?
I don't know what I am donig wrong, but I can not drag anything from my inventory to the screen. If I click it once it brings it up bigger, but then as soon as I click to use it, it goes away. I also tried to click it, hold it, and drag it to the screen, but it won't let me move the item from the square. Is there some special technique or a bug in the game?? Maybe I am just dumb, but either way could someone help.

It was written on a page of a memo of an author that you cannot use an item when it was Netscape. If your browser is Netscape, please try to test it in IE or FF.
