Yeah, it's an easy trial and error. I understand there are clues for it somewhere in the japanese but I didn't bother writing the answer in my essential tips post because it's so easy to get by brute force.

I really don't know with 16 and 20 but my guess would be to start on the third floor. Maybe sanguistina could tell you where 17 was, it should be in the same area. I would guess that 31 would be in the library.

Hmm... I wonder where the clues were. I'll have to look around and see if I can find them.

I'm still missing something, though, because no code from Karis. Still lacking 16, 20, 24, 26 and 31. Hmm...

EDIT: Okay, reading through the knowledge, it would seem that 20 & 24 are somewhere on the third floor. I'll go double-check there again. I want to say that 16 is in the basement, as 15 is the book about the Five Towers (which is in the basement SW), but then I think 17 was one of those letters lying around somewhere. It was written by some Ricardo fellow, that's all I know. 31 should be in the library, but I swear I've read everything in there multiple times...

I did; I found a letter in the drawer on the right side. Were there any others?

I should probably note that I haven't solved the tile puzzle in the basement just yet...

Nope. Was just trying to think of which one you could possibly have missed. There was one book in each bookcase and three others.

That's cool. You might find a clue for that while you're here.

Oh, I found the clue (it's much more obvious if you speak Japanese, as the text beneath the image reads
Spoiler:
He who seeks the key must _____ (I don't recognize the kanji) the concealing darkness.

EDIT: Solved that and the four circles puzzle (that one by accident!) and unlocked the teleporter to the second floor.

I hope my pathetic translations are helping peoples' understanding of this game at least somewhat, hehe!

Thanks, Aurora, that makes me feel better. I'd switched to the egg, but saved after getting the lily, so one out of two ain't bad.

What do people think of this logic?
This game has you looking at place settings at a table and applying that to powering up the elevator. So I think your logic makes *more* sense than anything else around here.
