I haven't had a problem using Firefox on either a Windows or Linux os. Maybe you're firewall or security settings are blocking it?

Thanks for this, lunarX. I'll have to wait to get home to try it out but extra spaces might have been the problem. I also don't recall the full stop thingy being in what I pasted.

i'm currently on the puzzle in the basement northwest with 3 white circle & 2 digit inside sems to be connected with a near locked door

I don't think you can get out of this area to check the clues so I hope you have either written down this info or have a savegame after you opened the appropriate room.
