my dad was in the army during WW2. he served at the battle of the bulge.
He told me he was on his stomach crawling towards the front line when the bombers flew overhead and ended the war.

got two purple hearts and a box full of medals during his tour of duty

Wow BG38, that is quite the story! I've actually been in that area during a holiday - I guess it is partly for your dad that I can even go on holiday there. :)

And Vivi, 9 years is a long time. Respect.

Moondust, maybe you should google a bit more around - there is a lot to find about WW2 on internet and definately not only on wikipedia ;)

I have to go now, I have to get up early tomorrow. Take care you all :winky:

That is very true. Life is too short but atleast everyone has one. It may not be very happy but they had one.

Do you happen to know any interesting information about World War 2. What areas did they battle in? What was it like? What kind of machines did they use?(tanks, guns.ect.)

you can always google!!

yea, if you ask me, people don't show their thanks enough for the men and women who sacrificed (and those who still do today ) in order to keep us free and safe

I mean, how do you thank someone for voluntarily risking life and limb for you?

i know that this site is neutral/ but please look at what is happening in the congo' this is the start of a much wider war than we can imagine'- much bigger than the wars that we have experienced and with a ferocity and brutality that we thought was a thing of the past

That is definately what it looks like, and it seems like nobody has a (proper) response to it. I'm not sure talking is the way to go, but have no clue what good UN soldiers could do either.

:doubt:

Anybody else for coffee?
