Well . . . I didn't even know until this debate came up, then I had to check. I'm usually not even aware of it until the night before.

npfan 10-11-2006 07:14 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Well...yeah. Based on your point of view, then it would be 6 to 6. But I'm in Hong Kong and us citizens are smart enough to not get involved in that kind of stuff.

ninjakitty 10-11-2006 07:22 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

hey smrt!! Welcome to the debate that is driving me insane. Earlier or later??????? Ahhhh!!!!! It's pretty much split up 50/50.

Speedracer 10-11-2006 07:25 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Earlier, now I want more. :frown3:

Hey Smrt, how are you?

*walks up to bar and orders a beer*

npfan 10-11-2006 07:26 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

the answer is earlier

this is how I think of it:
Benjamin Franklin or w/e his name was, invented this whole daylight savings thing because some people actually used candle wax to tell time...however, in the winter time, it takes wax longer to melt so he set back one hour to keep things a bit more accurate

this is just some theory I made but yeah...

he would be leaving an hour LATER, because when peopel set their clocks back they get an extra hour of sleep. it doesn't matter what time he'd wake up, it would still be an hour later--just like the people who live where his work is located.

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

YES!!!!! Earlier it is!!! *does victory dance* I was right, I was right!!!!

Ok, speedy, buy me a drink.

Wait a sec, rachel says later. WHYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

aquakitty 10-11-2006 07:30 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

earlier?! if you set your clocks back, you gain an hour of sleep because you set them BACK akafor an hour the clocks dont move right??? so you gain

right?!

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

I'm out! see you all later!!!

npfan 10-11-2006 07:37 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

ok...well, mainly this is just based on points of view

if you were living in an area that doesn't live in DST but you know someone that does, then by your point of view, then it would seem he leaves an hour later

aquakitty 10-11-2006 07:38 AM

why would you leave earlier if you gain an hour of sleep due to dst???

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Bye labby!!

Thanks, speedy. Delicious.

And don't we lose an hour of sleep?

aquakitty 10-11-2006 07:40 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

if you set your clocks back then that mean that for example, at 1 am you set the clock back to 12 am, hence gaining an extra hour. right?

npfan 10-11-2006 07:41 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

let me put this in example:

Before DST
You - 7 PM
Him - 7 AM

After DST
You - 7 PM
Him - 6 AM

His clock is set earlier while yours remain the same so it would appear he gets out later

aquakitty 10-11-2006 07:42 AM

hence you get out later too, right??? because hiswork timing is what matters here, not his home timing....

Speedracer 10-11-2006 07:45 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Yes we do set the clock back and then we get the extra hour of sleep. But it doesn't make a difference to him just his work hours change so he isn't effected by the time change just his work hours. Stock market closed at 4 the day before and now it closes at 3. Even though he didn't loose any time.

ninjakitty 10-11-2006 07:46 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

but setting the clocks back, that means that it's set back, right? So it's 11:19 now, where I am, but when I set my clock back it's 12:19.

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Hi guys.. whats up?

npfan 10-11-2006 07:48 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

again, this is mainly based on point of view, but now I say it's later...and that's my final answer Regis...lol

Speedracer 10-11-2006 07:51 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

No, Ninja. Back means to go ealier. 11:19 would then become 10:19. :silly:

*hands another beer to ninja*

when you set your clock back it gets later??? i dont get it

BG BEWARE!!!

but if he works in a dst area then he will have to get up later, hence leave later, right? and as a result he will have gotten an extra hour of sleep, like everyone else!

edit
thank you speed for clarifying that for ninja

* npfan!!! yay you agree :)

bg38 10-11-2006 07:55 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

I go by that old mantra when it comes to dst... spring forward... fall back  looks to me , if the guy lives in an area inaffected by dst, the only thing that would change would be his work time, therefore i say he would get off work earlier due to the time change in the us..
didn't the question say he only worked there and not lived there?

npfan 10-11-2006 07:55 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

ok...one final example

supposed time (without DST): 6 PM
changed time (with DST): 5 PM

with DST, he would've gotten out at 6, which would have supposedly be 7 PM without DST

Yes, let's keep drinking. He does get done earlier, though, right?

ah, rachel, I'm from the midwestern US and my friend and I were debating, so I thought I'd get outside help.

aquakitty 10-11-2006 08:11 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

hm... i think that if everyone in his works time zone gains an hour, then so does he interms of work time... but i think it may be useless to keep debating
