Hey guys, a friend and I were just having a debate about daylight's savings time. On the 29th, everything goes an hour earlier, right?

kiljo 10-11-2006 04:48 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

3 o'clock becomes 2 o'clock, if that answers your question?

labboy0 10-11-2006 04:51 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Hey ninja and kiljo! I believe that kiljo is correct. everything falls back an hour when moving from Daylight Savings to Standard time

kiljo 10-11-2006 04:54 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Hello Labboy, how are you?

Its easy to remember... In fall, the time falls back an hour and in spring time everything springs forward an hour.

I'm doing well kiljo! Hoping that Featch will accept my idea for a thread, or at lest reopen a thread that was closed

MagsMagee 10-11-2006 05:06 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

ohh ...it was a thread before?...

i think there is a saying fall back spring forwad...I think about it as springing *like if you where to jump or "spring" its usualy forward ... and you fall back

kiljo 10-11-2006 05:07 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Oh what thread was that Labboy?

ninjakitty 10-11-2006 05:09 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Ok, ok, so this is the situation. This person lives in a location that doesn't change times, but he works for a company that works in American stock exchange. He gets to leave work a half an hour after the American market closes. So, after we set our clocks back an hour, would he be leaving an hour earlier or an hour later than he is now?

labboy0 10-11-2006 05:09 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

the karaoke thread, I am a member of singshot.com and Magpie thought it would be a neat idea if we had a karaoke thread where people could post songs that they had sung on the site.

I would say that he should be able to leave an hour earlier, but I'm not really sure...

MagsMagee 10-11-2006 05:12 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

ummm an hour later.. I believe...

ninjakitty 10-11-2006 05:12 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

labboy - That's what I thought too, but he says it will be an hour later. Argh . . . brain . . . ceasing to function . . . .

he he, uh, mags has a different answer. OYE!

kiljo 10-11-2006 05:13 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Ok, he would have to stay later... Because the time goes backwards 1 hour. So he would work till 3, but 3 would really be 2 so he would have to work an extra hour to work until 3. Not sure if thats right though.

labboy0 10-11-2006 05:14 AM

ninjakitty 10-11-2006 05:24 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

He he . . . welcome to the madness, my friends!!!! There should be some sort of time changing calculator thingy online.

I'm going to go home and hit my head on a wall now. Have a nice night everyone, and if you figure it out, let me know

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

hi all!

how's it going?

got back from my retreat yesterday and i'm still wired

about the time thing....i'm going to take a stab at it

if normally this person works until 5:30 because the market closes at 5, his 5 = 5 american so he'd work until 5:30, however if the american changes back for fall (fall back, spring forward) then his 5 = 4 american due to the time change so he would have to work an hour later until 6:30 = 5 american plus half hour after close

MagsMagee 10-11-2006 05:50 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

hmmm maybe you should pm ninja.

how was your rtreat?

the best part was the professional photo shoot at the end....i can't wait to get my pics...professional make up and a pro photographer can make you look so pretty

i pm'ed ninja...i hope it's right...lol

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

it makes sense.. seems like you put alot of thought into it.

wow yeah that does sound like it will be fun to recieve.

ninjakitty 10-11-2006 05:57 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

agh, I won't be able to sleep until I figure this out. Thanks for the PM, moonwatcher ;)

My question is though, in your scenario, wouldn't his 5=6 American?

moonwatcher 10-11-2006 06:08 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

no, his time isn't changing and the american is going backwards so if both were equal to begin with (5=5) then with the time change it would be 5=4

so if the american market closed at 5 then he'd have to work until 6:30 because 6=5 and he works until a half hour after close.

ninjakitty 10-11-2006 06:20 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Oh, my head. I have a bunch of friends over right now and we are debating it. They say earlier. I dunno. Ok, my hubby wants to say something (but he's drunk so . . .. .)

Okay, This is Mr. NinjaKitty? Mrs. minjakitties husband. And I am not drunk! Okay, litttle...lot. And I want to clarfy oooone thing. Ready? Okay. If the sun would rise at 7:00 and set at 7:00 before Day light savings time then the new times would be 6:00 and 6:00. Make sense? So, time would end one hour earlier. 6:00 vs. 7:00 hmmmmm.... too difficult.

aquakitty 10-11-2006 06:27 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Mrs Ninja Kitty
ofcourse you aren't drunk

Hey Rachel!! Mr. ninjakitty says hi too. I'm not going to let him talk anymore, he has a naughty mouth *sigh*

labboy0 10-11-2006 06:34 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Still going on about the time change eh? I think Moon's senario makes sense... the amrican stock exchange closes at five no matter whether its 5 DST or 5 ST. so, if he has to work until the american stock exchange closes he would have to work until 6. Very good arguement Moon!!!

oh, and BTW, HI!!!:hug4

ninjakitty 10-11-2006 06:39 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

But if everything is going earlier, wouldn't he get done earlier? The point is that it gets dark earlier, so we do everything else earlier. The stock market closes earlier for him since his time stays the same, right?

aquakitty 10-11-2006 06:39 AM

labboy0 10-11-2006 06:47 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

Hey Rach!:hug4 I would say the debate has been going on in the pub for about an hour and a half or so...

This is why I hate DST... things just don't make any sense!

Speedracer 10-11-2006 06:51 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

So let me add my $0.02. He would also be starting earlier. Besides the time change takes place on early Sunday morning from 3 am to 2 am. So all in all I don't think it should make any difference since the stock market is closed.

I also had a few brews tonight :lol9:

ninjakitty 10-11-2006 07:01 AM

Re: Nordinho Pub Reloaded

So you say earlier?
