Been to chruch audio? That is so wierd for me, it 23:55 pm here. I don't go to chruch anymore. Not that I really ever did. Used to go every christmas and with school and somewhat more when I was younger. Now I haven't been for quiet some time. Think last time was my aunt 's funeral.

Re: Nordinho pub

hi themsrt  how are you?

When I was very young I went to sunday school but it was more to meet people, it was fun. When I was 13-14 I had to go to church all the time, meetings and services so I would be "worthy" off confirming my batasim vows. 99% of Norwegians are Christian and when I was youngeralmost everyone did this. Its an old tradtion to grow up.(before they did this to seperate children from audults) At that time the schools gave out bibles to all the students and we had several hours of Christinaity every week at public school. Now thats not allowed anymore. They teach all religions and bibles are only given to those who want them. But State and Church are still one. A year ago our prime minister was a priest. We were the only country besides Iran to have a relgious leader. Now things are changing. Only real cool thing is that if you marry in Church you don't have to marry/register anywhere else

Re: Nordinho pub

When i was a child i studied a school that is Baptist and next to my house.I learned religion, the songs too,i had fun, because i was a child. And i could buy small bibles and other things related to the religion at school if i wanted.

ijsbeer 02-27-2006 02:31 AM

Re: Nordinho pub

yeah things are often more enjoyable for kids:) I think its because as kids you are more open and accepting and a lot more naive. And more curious as well. I loved sunday school because they gave me a sticker if I remeber something. And I met some nice people. My parents only sent us there so we could meet other Norwegian children (we lived in Denmark at the time) and all I can think about it is positive memories. However the period when I was 14 was not fun.

Re: Nordinho pub

ya i am an athiest i used to like going to church so i coould meet other children and i had quite a few friend there too
i nolonger understand how people can beleave that there is a higher power

ijsbeer 02-27-2006 02:43 AM

Re: Nordinho pub

I still believe in a higher power (actually more powers). I don't believe they created everything or can change everything, but I do think they can help and do help people from time to time, when people ask for it. I believe in some old Germanic Gods, Not all of them but certainly in Thor the wheater God. I do however believe he is not the only one controlling the weather. Its kinda complicated to explain what I believe its more and mixture about what I experienced and come across. I think its most important that whatever one believes suits oneself. I don't see anything wrong with people beliving in a higher power, in particular when I see the great comfort some people have in doing so. I have however a problem with people who use relgion or ideals to be judgemental or mean against others. Thats what seems to be happening with some relgions (in certain parts of the world) today. Which is a pity for those who share the same relgion but not the same beliefs.

Re: Nordinho pub

hi again

i have been a christian my whole life, yet what i dont get is how "oppostite" the people in my religion are. example:
we are supposed to be against gays and violence, yet to get our way we become violent, and we openly accept gays. my school has these standards to live up to (my school is in my church, btw) yet, we dont. its extremly frusturating and it bugs the crap out of me. sometimes i wonder why im even in this religion

audioslave 02-27-2006 02:52 AM

Re: Nordinho pub

I beleive in a higher power as well, it's basically the Christian god, but not exactly how they betray it. I don't beleive that praying will save your soul, or that if you recive holy communion than god loves you. I beleive god created us all, and he just let us run our course. No interacting with the world at all, until we die, I don't think he made Jesus Christ and sent him to earth. I don't think that there's a reason to get caught up on relgion and make your life focused on it, because then people become uptight about, and they think that religion is their whole life. Then things like genocide and jiihad (sp?) can happen

Re: Nordinho pub

see my great uncil is a mont-senior in the catholic church and my i have 2 uncils that are gay and one of them has a liife partner my great uncil has no qualms with giving them a comunion

Re: Nordinho pub

Honestly,2 years ago i stopped believing in higher powers, like god.Sometimes i try to believe, but i just can't.I can't believe that god made us,or that praying he will help us.I believe in faith, but separated from religion.

i agree with you audio. my parent's life has become just religion, and they say, "if it doesnt glorify god, its from the devil" and since im on here alot, and it doesnt exactly "glorify" him, the think im a satanist, which is total crap and it drives me nuts.

well relgion is no longer what it used to be. Before it was only belief for most people. Now relgion is also taking a political statement. And relgion and poltics are not good things to mix.

and I belive much of what you say too audio!

hi sarah:polarhug: how are you feeling?

I do belive in life after Death as well but not in Heaven and Hell. I believe in Gaurdian angels and spirits moving to the next level. I do believe we come to achive things here on earth. And I believe in some kind of form of recarnination.

I agree with you ijs.I believe in life after death, spirits, reencarnation, guardian angels...but not in heaven and hell just like you.But i don't believe in god.Is it strange?

Re: Nordinho pub

you cannot blame people for being "close minded". At least not all of them. Many annoy me to, A LOT, but when you grow up certain beliefs and/or in a country/place where any alternation in these beliefs are frowned apon, even punished in some cases, its hard to think differently. Some don't even know different exists. However there is a line when it comes to cruelty and to actually knowing what you are talking about. Some people are plain mean or want power and know to use "relgion" to get what they want. "Relgion" was used in former Yugoslavia to justify horrible actions by leaders eager to gain power. Those people should be punished for their actions. However you cannot punnish everyone that particiapated in the war or thought "close minded" thoughts because many had no choice, or felt like they had no choice.

I am sorry you feel worse Sarah. Have a hug or two:polarhug: :polarhug: :polarhug: :polarhug: :polarhug:
I don't think you are wierd because you believe in Heaven and Hell. People should be able to believe what they want (mostly). When it comes to demons I think they are more lost souls with bad karma. I do believe there is some kind of Satan though but I don't believe people are sent to Hell for all the reasons some people claim. If there is a Hell they send people like Hitler and not people like us.

I belive in God too Gothic so I don't think its strange at all. I am just not sure what kind of God but I don't think it matters.
