I don't think I ever played that, but I can see how it must have been one of your favourites

Next: another one of those characters nobody would ever have heard of, if it weren't for the fact that he happened to be at the right place at the right time. Or possibly, from his point of view, at the wrong place at the worst of times. And that he saw history in the making.

Even so, while most of us know, or at least have heard, his name, and though we all have a clear image of a face to put next to his name, none of us really knows what he looked like. Until this post of course, see below for the real man.

So, what else do we know about him besides a face that wasn't his? Not a lot, unfortunately. We know he had a dog, and that professionally he made a lot of noise. Oh, and we know that his moment of fame started very early and ended very late.

History in the making? As in a disaster? Something to do with the Titantic or some sort?

Not the Titanic or anything similar, and whether it was a disaster depends on your point of view. I wouldn't say so .

What an intriguing story Hel.
You did say that it was ''the worst of times'' from his point of view....so was he killed there in some freak accident?
But you also said that from your own point of view it wasn't a disaster, so something nice....would you be mean enough to take joy out of someone's death? I find that hard to believe.

It looks like he's standing at some shoreline, a beach perhaps, looking out over water....did he witness something going on on sea?

pearla59 is saying: stay safe!

There are a lot of possibilities here...
I found the story of Eugene R. Leach, a radio operator on a famous, unintentional, around the world, Pan Am flight, right after Pearl Harbour. I didn't find a Wiki page, and he is probably the wrong character, but fascinating nevertheless...

No gthcs were killed in the writing of this story, so he lived to tell the tale
Spoiler:
and some people say that's just what it was, a tale, and he wasn't even there at the time
but you're right, he's looking out over water

pearla59 is saying: stay safe!

- Did he participate in the "event" or just eye witnessed it? Was his dog there with him at the time?
- Did it happen in the USA?
- Is there a reason why his photograph was not published? Was it some kind of clandestine operation?
- He lived to tell the tale...but did he see someone else die or harmed?

Did he participate in the "event" or just eye witnessed it? both

Was his dog there with him at the time? yep

Did it happen in the USA? nope

Is there a reason why his photograph was not published? I don't think anybody near him at the time thought of taking pictures

Was it some kind of clandestine operation? not really

He lived to tell the tale...but did he see someone else die or harmed? lots of them, I suppose
