LOL!!!! You will do fine. To start out I put mine in a plastic pot about 5 1/2 inches in diameter and about 5 inches high (like the ones you get when you purchase a houseplant at the store) it has good drainage holes and works well.
You are not ready to pinch your leaves back until the trunk of the tree is 6 to 8 inches high. When it gets that high and you have NEW little leaves coming up then you just take your fingers and pinch off the NEW little leaves. There are usually about 2 of them. This will cause your tree to have new branches and make it fuller.
Don't forget also if you see spots on any of the leaves remove them. Sometimes they seem to get something on them when they start out, this is perfectly normal but you need to remove the leaf to keep it from going to the other leaves. When I do this I don't have any problems with the other leaves or I should say I haven't to this point.
If you have any questions just let me know.

Well done, Nef!! She's beautiful (just like her mama, might I add.) I'll post up a shot of my little one for you to one day soon as she's coming along very nicely. Had a bit of a scare on Saturday; when I went to look at her she was all droopy so I quickly threw some water in her and this morning she has perked right up! Guess they were serious about giving them frequent light waterings!! Anyway, I am very proud of her ... and I have you to thank, Nef. I couldn't have done it without all your coaching.

Btw, as a side-note... I just love the decor in your room that the tree is in. Can you explain a bit about that piece behind the pot? ... And are those antique scales beside her?

AWWWW Tyvm!!! The pic you sent me of your tree was great and you are doing wonderful with her! as far as the watering, yes they will get droopy when they need to be watered.

I am glad you like my cabinet, I love antiques!
About the piece in the picture it is called a Sellers Cabinet ( you may have heard of a Hoosier Cabinet which is the same thing just a different brand) and they were made in America. In the old days this unit was your counter, and held you baking goods, bowls, cookbooks, spices etc. and in the long door on the left it has a large sifter that you poured your large bag of flour into and turned a crank on the bottom to sift the flour. You also can pull the counter out to have a larger working space. The bottom part you can't see in the picture has a roll top the full length of the piece. To have the roll top on the bottom is pretty rare because they only made that for two years and then went back to 2 doors. I happen to like the look of the roll top so that is why we got a Sellers Cabinet instead of a Hoosier. It is made of oak and has stained glass inserts (you can see them a little bit) in the doors.
The scales on the sides of the tree are antique scales and the container that my tree is in is an antique from an old ice cream company.

Oh, man!! ... um... before we get way :offtopic: we'll continue this elsewhere but as for now....

I will post this pic for now. My little avvie tree is only a couple of months old, from seed to this and I don't think she looks too badly so far.
