The creator made it because he thought that riddles like Notpron were too hard.

Just for the record the guy wasn't hanged as yet. We have six chances and there were only five wrong letters guessed. We had one more guess before killing him. I think that's why it's suggested to keep the gallows showing - it helps to keep track.
