Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Catchall What was the name of the US DEA undercover agent that was able to infiltrate and break up drug trafficking bands between Mexico and the US, who was tortured and killed in early 1985? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Enrique S. Camarena? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Well close enough. LOL His actual name was: Enrique "Kiki" Camarena Salazar, though he did go by Enrique Camarena. So nice job, K'lyn! :) Your go. |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Well, that's a good thing because nowhere that I saw carried his nickname so I would still be up a tree on that one! Catchall Who is the deceased photographer whose display of work caused much controversy in the late 80's? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Would that be Robert Mapplethorpe?? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Yes it would!! Good job, Jess! :) |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Thanks! You know what's funny about it though, is that I almost asked a question about him a while back but I couldn't figure out what exactly to ask? LOL Ok, next question: Event In 1987, there was a first in medical science that took place in Baltimore, Maryland. What was it? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Was it the first heart-lung transplant? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Yes, that would be what I'm looking for. :) And while your answer was sufficient to get it right, I found this along with it and thought it was interesting: 1987 First "domino" transplant takes place in Baltimore, Maryland, in which a patient with diseased lungs but a healthy heart receives a heart-lung transplant and then donates their healthy heart to a patient needing a heart transplant. So it's your turn, hun! :) |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Cool! :) I was going to elaborate a bit but then thought against it. What I would have added wasn't what you had so ... I still got to learn something new! ;) Event Who was arrested for the bombing in a West Berlin disco that killed 2 soldiers and what year was it? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE First, are you asking for the year of the bombing or year of the arrest, 'cause I'm not sure if they are one and the same. :) But I believe Musbah Abdulghasem Eter, Yasser Mohammed Chreidi (or Yassar Al-Shuraidi or Yassir Chraidi), Ali Chanaa and Chanaa's former German wife, Mrs Verena Chana were arrested for it (at least they were convicted). I know the bombing took place in 1986 while their conviction didn't take place until 2001. Is that correct? Or am I missing something? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Oh sorry, luv. I guess I didn't make it clear: I wanted the name of the person arrested and the year of the bombing. You got the year correct but it's really weird; when I was looking for a question I found this and I checked a few places and oddly enough never came across any of those names you gave. I double checked again just now and saw that wiki has those names but the New York Times mentions the name I was looking for but not included with yours. <sigh> Must I continually be plagued with conflicting issues in here?? Tell you what, go ahead and take it. I'm too tired to argue! :) |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE :) It's no problem for me to see if I can find another name. I wouldn't be Andrea Hausler (or maybe spelt Haeussler)?? Would it? And it's funny you never came across those names b/c it seems every where I look they are ALL I can find. :lol9: |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Yes, that's the one I had, Andrea Hausler. I don't know - maybe I just link right into some underground internet or something!! Your go, luv. And thanks for digging beyond. :) |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE No problem. :) And it is pretty interesting actually. LOL I dunno why all your sources show just Andrea Hausler being arrested. But she was the one who actually carried the bomb into the disco and was the sister of Verena Chana. But Andrea was actually acquited of all charges because they couldn't prove she actually knew the bomb was in her bag. See how much this game teaches you?? :rotfl: Ok next: Event What happened in Ireland in 1981 that led to a show down between the British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher and a certain group of people? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Would that be the hunger strike that took place involving an IRA prisoner? Would you like more details? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE That's pretty much correct....but I would like to know the name of the prison that was involved. :) |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE No problemo! ... Let's see - was it Maze Prison near Lisburn in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Yep that would be the one. :) Nice job! And now you're up! |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Excellent!! Thanks, darlin'! :) Event/Sport(?) What female athlete shone at the summer Olympics and wowed fans with her nails? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE I believe that would be Florence "Flo Jo" Griffith-Joyner. :) |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE That would be her! Good job, luv, :) |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Whoo Hoo!! :cheer: Event What happened when the United States set up a Border Patrol roadblock and checkpoint on US 1 just south of Florida City in 1982? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Not sure exactly what you want or how much detail so I'll just start with this: It sparked a tongue-in-cheek protest secession of the city of Key West from the United States which resulted in the creation of a new avenue of tourism for the Keys. |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE That's right and a good answer...but what I was really looking for was what that "tongue-in-cheek protest" consisted of. :winky: |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE It consisted of the mayor and Council briefly declaring its "independence" as the Conch Republic. Do you need more info? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Nope, that's good and what I was looking for. :) Nice job. You're up, hun. |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Thank you kindly, me dear! :) Okay, here's an easy-peasy one: Sports August 7, 1987 is which NHL star's birthday? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Would that be Sidney Crosby?? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE It certainly would!! Sorry if it was too easy - just didn't have the gumption to look for something tricky! |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE It's ok... Ok and I don't have time for a tricky one either. LOL So here goes: Television What member of the original cast of The Fact's of Life also starred in The Breakfast Club? :winky: |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Do you mean the Breakfast Club?? Would that be Molly Ringwald? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Yes, sorry that is what I meant. I was trying to type too fast. LOL And yes, it was Molly Ringwald. Nice job, hun! Your turn. |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE  I just had to double check Breakfast Cub to make sure it wasn't an actual show! ;) Music Who said that you couldn't justify her shattered dream? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Ok, I'm getting absolutely nothing on this. Is there any way I can get a clue? Please?? |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Coitinly, goilee!! :) This person also said that they're going to scream until they're satisfied. |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Ok then is it Pat Benatar?? :) |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE HA!! That's her!! Good job, Jess!! :arms: Your go, luvvie!! :) |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Whoo Hoo!! :cheer: Ok let's try this: Catchall What was the first 16-bit console to sell really well in Europe and North America that was released in the late 80's? Name the console and the year it was released. :) |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Okay, I would guess it's either PC Engine, (TurboGrafx-16) launched in 1987 OR Sega Mega Drive in 1988. |
Re: 80's TRIVIA CHALLENGE Well I could be mean and say it's one of your answers....and make you figure out which one... :winky: But I'll be nice and say you were right with Sega. :) Nice job! And now it's your turn. |
