I'm gonna stick my bottom lip out if it's that, I mentioned it 2 days ago

Re: Pictionary

Hahaha, I want to see you doing that :rotfl:

Well, it just has to be it, all the elements of the picture are in the song...

Spoiler:
English Translation:

In the light of the moon, Pierrot, my friend
Loan me your pen to write something down
My candle's dead, I've got no flame to light it
Open your door, for the love of God!

In the light of the moon, Pierrot replied
I don't have a pen, I'm in bed
Go to the neighbor's, I think she's there
Because someone just lit a match in the kitchen

In the light of the moon, likable Harlequin
Knocked on the brunette's door, and she responded immediately
Who's knocking like that? And he replied
Open your door, for the God of Love!

In the light of the moon, you can barely see anything
Someone looked for a pen, someone looked for a flame
In all of that looking, I don't know what was found
But I do know that those two shut the door behind them.

Apologies if I stole your idea, Jimbo but I honestly haven't read your entry before I posted mine :)

Oh my, I'd better think of something now...

Jimborama 03-31-2009 03:53 AM

Re: Pictionary

Oh Avent, I don't accuse.

I didn't look up the lyrics ;) Though I was sure it was/is something to do with shedding the costume, I didn't find anything that satisfied the candle at the door, other than crowbarring in Night Train :P

If you're right, you'll get a bottom lip picture

Hahaha. The lyrics are in French, I'll admit, but Pierrot :clown: is pretty universal, and wiki's Pierrot page (which I think Jimbo read, from his answer in which he mentioned the song) actually links to a page about Au Clair de la Lune which has an English translation. So, even if you haven't learned the song (as I did as well ;)), it can be done....

Good to see somebody found the answer 'immediately' though (you always think your own image is obvious, but every time it turns out to be not...), so :notworthy and over to you now :jossun:

Spoiler:
Interesting fact about the song: it is now the earliest recognizable record of the human voice ;).

Re: Pictionary

So, close, but no cigar. I didn't state it as a guess.
I did visit wiki - hey, who doesn't on these ;) (the recording link is on the wiki page too)
Well done Avent, get thinking :)

Yay! I hope you'll show us something, Jimbo! :arms:
I'm all discombobulated that I was actually able to solve one of Hel's seemingly impossible (at least to me) ones. Thanks for the extra info! I loved that song and still know the first two lines by heart (because we didn't learn the other ones)
Don't have much time and will be gone all day, anyway, here is a simple yet slightly mean
work of art (I don't mean my clue is, but that's what you're supposed to find ;)

Hahaha, don't think you can be mean.

So here's another one from me.

To make up for the first, a very easy one.

It's a song:

Re: Pictionary

Well as you like Bon Jovi... Bad Medicine?

rbud57 03-31-2009 06:59 PM

Re: Pictionary

A likely answer, Jimbo - I was thinking of "I Want a New Drug" by Huey Lewis & the News, myself. Sort of the same approach. :)

Re: Pictionary

 what's up with you people, normally i can't even begin to guess clues and now i got avents and if Jimbo's correct with his, neija's as well  though of course that one is a bit obvious  oh well guess i can't complain though it's nice to be able to guess some for a change

neija 03-31-2009 07:49 PM

Re: Pictionary

Hahahaha

Told you this one would be very easy!

Jimbo is correct!

I'll have to make the next harder again

oh no please don't start making things especially for me, that's too much pressure, besides if i would guess correctly then i'd have to make one, and i know it seems impossible to believe but how bad i am in finding clues, i'm even worse in making one up

Re: Pictionary

I know this is a little off topic but here, as promised, is a pic for Aventura.

And... angel, I can't believe you didn't get! You nearly said it - Film festival host :P

Helanren 04-01-2009 05:31 AM

Re: Pictionary

Not sure about the film festival hint, but "Withnail and I" seems to be a possibility?
That lovely picture by the way seems to date from right after Jimbo's first experience with the film...

angelstar 04-01-2009 09:02 AM

Re: Pictionary

Well Helanren I think you might be right (thank you if you are :silly: ) ,especially since Withnail is played by Richard E Grant, and from what i remember Jimbo likes this actor a lot, never heard or seen the movie myself though if that's an excuse for not getting it. As for the filmfestival host, that's just a poke at me, cause i volunteer at a filmfestival, though we only show movies from Asia, Africa and South-America, so Withnail and I would have never made it through seing it's a British production

And I think the movie fits perfectly  It's a nice movie :) Strangely, not much happens :dizzy: Still it's nice... It's a good thing I'm no movie critic for I can hardly ever find words for it :lol9:

Re: Pictionary

Hel, you are correct :)
Yes, it's a poo drawing I admit, quickly done so I had one in reserve ;)
No, though I can put away a fair amount, I recognise the stomach pump potential of the drinking game

Angel, it was only a cheap gag about the festival, I know you'd never screen this film :hug3 and I do like Richard E Grant he's one of the finest swearers this country (or Swaziland) has ever produced

Over to you again Helanren :)

I lived in Swaziland for about a year and never heard of Grant, maybe they have disowned him ?

Here's another historic event for you:

bonuspoints for identifying the origin of the character on the left ;)!

neija 04-02-2009 08:30 AM

Re: Pictionary

The character looks like a Roman soldier, but guess that won't be it.

As for the rest, somehow makes me think of the Red Sea, perhaps even Suez Canal (as a bridge between the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea) , don't know what the dice should stand for.

angelstar 04-02-2009 08:54 AM

Re: Pictionary

My first guess was Mozes who is dividing the sea in two (sorry don't know the exact word) so he can walk through it, but don't know what the dice has to do with that, so i'm guessing no and the historic value of that i'm not sure either :rotfl: . Unless the little guy isn't mozes, but indeed a roman soldier'(which he does look like) and it has something to do with Caesar's words of alea iacta est ( think that's the only piece of latin i actually stil remember)but that as far as i'll go, someone else can take it from there

Helanren 04-02-2009 09:01 AM

Re: Pictionary

Mean enough to pass the 13-minute-test, I see, but only just ! You're both almost there already, though Angel is somewhat ahead ...

angelstar 04-02-2009 09:12 AM

Re: Pictionary

well i know what it is (i'm pretty sure for a change) but i don't feel like making the next one (yet- i will start to think about one and who knows one day , so i'll gladly pass this one to neija :)

neija 04-02-2009 10:28 AM

Re: Pictionary

Hahaha, as if I'll guess!
I haven't a spare one anymore as well, I started making one but my drawing skills let me down

But damn!!
Should have made the link with the dice and Caesar when I thought of Roman soldiers.
Still don't know what it could be.
Caesar did lead his army across the Rubicon when he said alea iacta est, so perhaps that's why the river is red.
Start of the Great Roman Civil War.

itSFMe 04-02-2009 10:29 AM

Re: Pictionary

I somehow think this historic event was featured in Asterix & Obelix (though this Roman isn't by Uderzo ;) ). Could be mistaken and just have a picture of Romans dicing in my head :silly:
And that character... some sort of high Roman military man I imagine  :silly:

Well... they build quite some bridges in their time. And aquaducts. And there is a whole village at Xanten, that's near a river... I bet there are a lot more like that though  Is the river meant to be "the Red Sea" or some sort of river of blood?! :doubt: Maybe the dice is to show the whole expedition was quite a (lucky) gamble?

Ok, wild guess here:
One of the (3) Punic Wars?!

Edit Why are you so sure it's Ceasar Neija?

neija 04-02-2009 10:59 AM

Re: Pictionary

I'm not sure at all, just going on with Angels guess and Helanren saying she was closer
Doesn't have to be him, just a soldier of his army.

itSFMe 04-02-2009 11:18 AM

Re: Pictionary

Ah, got it. Missed the "alea iacta est" part ;) Had to look that one up :silly: Seems like a pretty solid guess to me

Appart from the fact that I never imagined Caesar that corpulent... or with such a plume on his head  But indeed, it can be one of his commanders ;)

Start of the Great Roman Civil War.

All I was looking for was the crossing of the Rubicon, so you not only guessed it, but even improved the answer!

Spoiler:
The river was filled out from a picture of a ruby, so that's indeed why it was red.
The Roman is neither Caesar nor drawn by Uderzo, but comes from "Down with Skool!", one of the Molesworth books by Geoffrey Willans and Ronald Searle (which, as any fule kno, is well worth reading even if it is some 55 years old now!)

See also here, or this gif I made from page 19, 37, 69, 89 and 97 :).

Over to you again :jossun:!

Good job Neija

neija 04-02-2009 02:41 PM

Re: Pictionary

Thanks, but wouldn't have guessed it without Angels clue about the dice.
Hats off for her, if she was sure of this historical event!

Soo...made a quick draw of a movie I saw yesterday

I really doubt you watched this one, but it's a nice movie so I've gotta try
Castle in the Sky (anime)

neija 04-02-2009 02:51 PM

Re: Pictionary

Hahahaha
Nope, don't watch anime movies
But you're thinking in the right direction.

itSFMe 04-02-2009 02:58 PM

Re: Pictionary

Well, if you say so I'm bound to go in a totally different direction :rotfl: Sorry, I just catch myself doing that every time somebody says "you're going in the right diriction" i immediately leave that direction :bonk:

So, it brought me to
Les Miserables, and yeah, I missed the ' on the e in Miserables - no idea how to do that . Why I choose this one? It has a song in it: "Castle on a cloud"

YouTube - [Les Miserables] 10th anniversary - Castle on a Cloud

But I guess her castle doesn't need to be royally ;)

Searching on...

Jimborama 04-02-2009 03:16 PM

Re: Pictionary

Well I've got Castle in the Air, Castle of Dreams, pretty obsure - Think I might be being too litteral.

neija 04-02-2009 03:22 PM

Re: Pictionary

Yep, bit too literal.

So so looking for other words then castle and air and clouds.
