Nothing wrong with that pic as a clue Tachan... apart from I didn't know it :P

So, I did some thinking and searching, as you deserve a response on your first go.

How about Sky of an Archangel?

Hi Jimborama!! :)

I may have made a too obscure clue maybe :) Is not Sky of an archangel, sorry :doubt:

I will give some additional clues:

1. Size is important.
2. I think thereīs another word for "arch" in English :P
3. Dude!

Re: Pictionary

There's a 2005 movie called The Bow, but I'm afraid that would be too simple.....;)

edit: but 'dude' could make it ""The big Lebowski"?

 : a pictionary dingbat: a (big) bow in "le sky"

Iīm sorry, itīs not the answer :doubt: I think I made it too cryptic :doubt: But one word is correct as may be part of a bigger word :)

Think of the size of main thing in pic and where is it placed (itīs kind of a rebus...).
Another hint: Jesus loves bowling.

EDIT: YES!!!!!!! Helanren got it right!!!! :cheer: :cheer:
Yeah, a sad dingbat  :banghead: (Big Bow Sky) :P

Itīs one of my favourite films! The Dude is fantastic! ANd what about Jesus Quintana?

Your turn Helanren! :)

Argh! Donīt know why my signature gets inside the spoiler ???

 I liked the movie as well, but to be honest, I have no special feelings, one way or the other, for Jesus Quintana.......;).
Spoiler:
edit: Now that, of course, was before I knew that (wiki)
"The Jesus", as he refers to himself, is a pedophile and generally creepy pervert who did six months in Chino for exposing himself to an eight-year old" ....:).

Do love the art, though.

Yours, too, tachan! Good drawing! :)

!

Still from my Top 2000, yes. Seemed like a title that would work as an image :).

Actually, when I was putting it up, I was also looking for a You Tube clip and the wiki info, just to make sure it was not too obscure.

Looks like it did better in Europe than in the US (though I found it got to #3 in Canada) :)
I mistyped and got this one. I was hoping someone would come up with that as well, just so I could be indignant about the fact that people would think I knew anything about house and the like !

A last bit of trivia
Spoiler:
Brian Ferry of Roxy Music later had a small role in 'Breakfast on Pluto' ;)
and over to Jimbo again :jossun:

Ha, that would throw us if you went for "...A drug".
Loved the little hearts :)

Okay, wanted to post tonight, so please excuse the rapid (cheating style) image. I thought I'd throw in a work of art, just for a change:

Nice idea, been thinking about alternative categories as well and that's a good one! But hard to find any reference materials...... :)!

Didn't really know this painting, but it seems to fit the image (even though that features a Scottish train ):

Once again Hel, you are right first time http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...lies/thumb.gif that's exactly it!

I know it could be a bit tough to research art in the same way we can do songs/films, just a little spice http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...ies/nerner.gif
At the risk of repeating myself, it's over to you.

Took me a lot longer than 21 minutes to make that !

And the same goes for that other one by Michelangelo by the way...

Oh, you guys are having waaaay too much fun! ;)

Great stuff! I immediately wanted to click around in your picture, Helanren, and find a screwdriver - or pick up the knife and pry out a brick or cut the bars! :rotfl:

Well done! You, too, Jimbo - I like this art option, have been thinking hard to try to come up with some of my own.

Re: Pictionary

Sorry Hel... know the feeling ;) (it's what drove me to make toughies)
BTW, can tell you use the same as me, that one looked like one of mine, or mine look like yours.

Will have to get back to you, it's late and my brain is mush.

...and thanks rosie :)
==================
Sorry for the delay.

Here is a film (artwork is tougher to think of too :silly:)

Could that be "Desert Nights?"

Jimborama 01-10-2009 06:59 AM

Nope, sorry synkron, that's not it but it is the whole thing and not cryptic clues :)

Oh, hello and welcome btw, though you joined about when I did, where ya been :)

I have one or two in mind, if I Cannes find the time, between work and family commitments, to complete them ;).

itSFMe 01-10-2009 01:58 PM

Re: Pictionary

Hmm... I also thought of dessert and night. It led me to Alladin though :lol9: But reading Jimbo's comment I guess I should focus on the moon too :doubt:
I see some steam which might be coming from a chimney, so maybe it's a movie about a lonely person living in the desert... Or some horror movie... I remember there was one about a family getting stuck in the desert but I can't remember the name of that movie...

Does it show I'm kinda clueless? :whistling

Jimborama 01-10-2009 08:23 PM

Actually, I think it shows you picked up a few important clues !

How about "Tsuki no sabaku", a.k.a. "Desert Moon", a film "about the conflict between work and family commitments in modern Japan" that was nominated for a Golden Palm?

Jimborama 01-10-2009 09:38 PM

Re: Pictionary

Waaaaay too clever for this one mate.
There is a little clue there but I promise it's a 'say what you see' kind of clue, not a cryptic.

itSFMe 01-10-2009 09:44 PM

Re: Pictionary

Erm...

How bout
Bright Night (1953) then?

Or maybe
Starry night

Jimborama 01-10-2009 09:55 PM

Re: Pictionary

Just the opposite ;)

Can you see a tiny flying thing?

itSFMe 01-10-2009 09:58 PM

Re: Pictionary

Opposite? But it is bright as can be. If it was like that over here now I'd be jumping up and down because it meant it would be freezing cold :cheer: If it's cloudy, it won't freeze that much and the ice will be weaker tomorrow :depressed:

 I see that tiny flying thing, in reference to the rest of the picture it looks like a huge silhouette of a bird ... It isn't
"the Birds" by Hitchcock is it? That would be a bit far fetched...
Erm...
The night bird (1928) ? Probably too far fetched again

Maybe you should make it harder next time

Jimborama 01-10-2009 10:32 PM

Re: Pictionary

Opposite of bright is....?

And what flies at night? come on SF... squeeze that brain ;)

itSFMe 01-10-2009 10:37 PM

Re: Pictionary

What flies at night? Well, erm ... flying scousers, owls, vampires, bats... Ow! I know!
THE DARK KNIGHT
It's the newest batman movie!

Helanren 01-10-2009 11:05 PM

Re: Pictionary

"Tiny" and "dark" are right, that bat keeps hiding behind a speck of dust on my screen :rotfl:.

Good find, itSFMe! No skating for you tomorrow I'm afraid, back to the drawing board ;).

rbud57 01-10-2009 11:49 PM

Re: Pictionary

Wow, good job, SF! I didn't even see that bat until I knew to look for it, had to put in into Irfanview and lighten it up to find him!

Guessing you're right, congrats! :cheer:

Jimborama 01-11-2009 12:48 AM

Re: Pictionary

Yayyy!

I thought it would be one that lasted about 5 minutes. Difficult to know what is dark as all our screens are different, and the house etc was just so it looked like a scene and not just a black screen ;)

Nice one SF :) Your turn.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

'bright' translates to 'helder' in Dutch, but a 'heldere hemel', a 'bright sky' mainly has the connotation of 'cloudless', 'clear'. So the night can be dark, but the sky still bright. And that's before you start looking at screensetttings and whether your LCD is tilted correctly.....!

Jimborama 01-11-2009 04:54 AM

Re: Pictionary

Ahh, I see, thanks for making that clear, or bright, or helder ;)
I can totally see SF's thinking now.
An remember to wipe the dust off your screen next time I post something Hel :rotfl:

Re: Pictionary

:) The wonderful ways of the mind :arms:
It was a wonderful found Jimbo - I found the movie while googling "dark" but thought it couldn't be that one because I saw no knight in the picture... :bonk:

Ok, I drew something quickly. Of course it is a song :lah:

I can't tell you guys whether you're right or wrong untill Thursday though  How can we best solve that problem? Ow well, maybe I'll find a way to sneak in ... :wall:
Edit: Neija will hold the fortress for me :arms:

But I agree, lots to confuse our minds - and I'm easily confused!

Is that an orange bush? Wonder what's in the bags? Hmmm.

Ok, since I'm filling in for SF...

Yep lot's of clues for you to think of...

RBud, you're right about the oranges...not quite sure I'm allowed to say what's in the bags...just think about something guys should put outside without us asking ;)

Girlfriend by Michael Jackson? Mistress by Disturbed? Or did I misunderstand that?
Spoiler:
I thought it was always men who had to ask women to put out? Must be my lack of knowledge of the English language...

neija 01-12-2009 05:30 PM

Re: Pictionary

Well, those aren't correct.

So should I say take it outside then?
Forgive me for my poor English

Re: Pictionary

I think it is:

Suzanne (Leonard Cohen song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Spoiler:
Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.

And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust him
For he's touched your perfect body with his mind.

Now Suzanne takes your hand
And she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers
From Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that you can trust her
For she's touched your perfect body with her mind.
