Okay... out on a limb for a wild guess, as the names seem far eastern.
The Manchurian Candidate?

Still wondering why your image is called lizardpeople...

LIzard PEople, I imagine

MPR: Why would someone vote for the Lizard People?

See andrew's post above ;).

The idea was that the name would make it easier to recognize/google that particular Minnesota ballot, then notice that I changed one thing on it, which would give a hint....

Well, at least part of that plan worked :). Li Peo was as close a Chinese sounding name as I could make out of the original write-in, because like you guessed, the Manchurian Candidate is what I was looking for

Have a look at how Murder was already on Jessica's mind in the early sixties, then over to you :jossun::

Sorry for bypassing your clues Hel
Must have been a moment of inspiration...

Here's mine, Book and Film:

Re: Pictionary

Beautifully rendered, Jimbo!

Would it be "The Celestine Prophecy"?

I base that on research that revealed to me that Pope Boniface VIII followed Pope Celestine V in the papacy, and that the words of the spectral fellow you've shown seem "prophetic" - NOT because I've ever heard of the book or movie. I hadn't before now.

Lucky educated guessing.

Jimborama 12-22-2008 07:06 AM

Re: Pictionary

Brilliant deduction 'Victoria' ;)
At least it proves it wasn't too cryptic
(The only thing you missed was the book is set in Peru, and that's the background :))

I haven't read it either :P

Over to you hon...

Re: Pictionary

Just call me Vicki! (not!) :winky:

Okay, then, I have a SONG TITLE here.

The thing is, though, as I played with it, I realized it could be more than one.

In fact, I can see it as representing hints for at least 4 song titles by the same group!

So while I do have one in particular in mind, (which should take into account the subject of the picture) extra points if someone can guess at least 3 of the total 4. Hope that's not too confusing.

Re: Pictionary

Well My first thought was:
Spoiler:
Sympathy for the Devil by the Stones

But as for the others... not yet but I was only here for a minute

Helanren 12-22-2008 04:18 PM

Re: Pictionary

I was looking for songs by The Red Devils, but it seems they hardly made more than 4 songs in total... and of those that they did make, only 'Devil Woman' and 'Tail Dragger' might be an answer :).

So I guess I'll yield to Jimbo and can only go for the bonus points:

- Gimme Shelter
- (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
- Worried About You
- You Can't Always Get What You Want

and of course (after all, what we see is a he-devil and a she-devil meeting at night for the first time, perhaps in a bar, and making random conversation....)
- Let's Spend the Night Together
or the Muddy Waters cover
- I Just Want to Make Love to You

rbud57 12-22-2008 07:48 PM

Re: Pictionary

You're both right! :arms:
Of course, since Jimbo was there first, like Helanren says, we'll yield to him for the win.

(but the points go to you, Helanren! -
for 1, 2, and 4 of your titles, though I like the last two, also!)

You're up again, Jimbo!

Wow, I'm having to put some work in on these

Just out of interest rose, what stones song was your first thought?

This on is a book, I haven't read it but have many other by the author:

Are you into manga? In that case, it might be Fairy Tail by Hiro Mashima...the pencil maybe a hint that those are comic books, and the blood...don't really know :).

Jimborama 12-24-2008 04:19 AM

Re: Pictionary

Not manga Hel but you have all the elements identified :) just need bringing together in the whole thing.
(Author often has long titles)

I thought that would make it fairly 'easy', but alas.. I went through my whole Sherlock Holmes collection (written of course by fairy-believer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle :)), checked out Robert Louis Stevenson, researched J.M. Barrie
Spoiler:
funny bit of trivia: according to Wikipedia "He is also credited with popularising the name "Wendy", which was very uncommon before he gave it to the heroine of Peter Pan"
and, I have to admit, I even looked at my Alistair Maclean books, but no luck yet....

I thought something that would last while we all had a holiday ;)

Author is still alive.
My favourite happens in the middle of the night but second fave happens one morning. I haven't read the one about ducks ;)

But now you thought it has lasted long enough ?

Even though I read a lot of crime fiction, I've never heard of Christopher Brookmyre....but I like the sound of 'Tartan Noir' so I guess I'll have to try him.

Maybe "A Tale Etched in Blood and Hard Black Pencil" will be a good start?

Jimborama 12-31-2008 11:41 PM

Re: Pictionary

Not only a good start but a good finish - well done Hel http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...lies/yipee.gif

It is indeed A Tale Etched in Blood and Hard Black Pencil by Christopher Brookmyre.
As I alluded to in my post, One Fine Day In The Middle Of The Night and Quite Ugly One Morning are the two I would recommend.

Over to you.

This week I have listened a lot to the 'Top 2000' of Radio 2 in the Netherlands: starting on december 26, 00.00 hr right through to december 31, 24.00 hr, 24 hours a day non stop music from a list voted by the listeners as the best songs of all time. It started as a one off at the 1999/2000 millenium change, but was such a success that it has been redone every year since then.

The listeners of Radio 2 tend to be roughly in the 30-60 years old range, in other words not old enough to think that all pop music is just loud noise, but old enough to know that house, hiphop etc is . So you can imagine that a top 2000 from that group has a lot of great (mostly 60s and 70s) music :)!

Anyway, enough inspiration for me to make up a few new pictures, and here's one of them. Not very difficult I think, but then we all say that about our own images:

Re: Pictionary

Well, I've had a theory from moments after you posted it, but was waiting a bit, also.

Is it "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits?
Spoiler:
Though for some reason, my first thought was "Tea In The Sahara" by The Police - "teeing" off! :rotfl:

Jimborama 01-02-2009 03:31 PM

Re: Pictionary

You're (still ;)?) inside the age group as well, I know, and so yes, Sultans of Swing it is !

And if I may so so myself, I was quite pleased with that picture (though on second thought, perhaps a bit more work on the pants...:))

Over to you :jossun:!

Re: Pictionary

Oh, I liked your picture, too, Helanren, it was very well done! :)

Here's a BOOK/MOVIE TITLE - probably another one of those "easy" ones!

Re: Pictionary

Not too hard, no (though perhaps it should have been made out of squares? :))....

neija 01-03-2009 12:25 AM

Re: Pictionary

I may not be in the right age group but it was one of the very few I knew straight away.

Most of the other are always way out of my league

Jimborama 01-03-2009 06:20 AM

Re: Pictionary

Yes Hel - I liked your pic very much, looked like a print - and I'm now ashamed to admit I didn't say anything cos I thought it was found and not original - if I can attempt to dig myself out of that hole... I thought it was professional.

Neija... they are all easy if you know 'em ;)

OK, I'll say it: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy - John Le Carré

No problem hon :) Sorry for delay.

Here's a Film to try:

Re: Pictionary

Mysterious image......;)

There's a Taiwanese film called Double Vision, but somehow I don't think you expected us to know that....:).

So how about Le miroir à deux faces, or, in keeping with the English language requirements of Nord, The Mirror Has Two Faces (even if none of the two seems cross-eyed enough to be Barbara Streisand)?

And by the way, is the title of the 1996 remake a bad, or simply a free translation of the 1958 original ?

Jimborama 01-05-2009 12:16 AM

Re: Pictionary

All right show-off :rotfl:

The face in the picture isn't Babs but you are correct Hel... I thought it would make it to tomorrow! haha

I assume it's not Shades of Red...(adult movie) although that's my closest guess.

Looking for something with red squares but can't seem to find something yet.

Could it be REDS from Warren Beatty?

Nothing wrong with that pic as a clue Tachan... apart from I didn't know it :P

So, I did some thinking and searching, as you deserve a response on your first go.

How about Sky of an Archangel?
