oh lordy! hehehe, no it's not carrot top lol

:rotfl: There is a definite resemblance there!
(I had no IDEA C-top had gotten so buff!)

Oh, now I should guess, but my brain isn't up yet! Coffee!

Re: Pictionary

Apparently, there is a type of ski lift called "carrot lift", is that it?
From Wikipedia,
"a carrot lift is a rope toe with orange plastic "carrots" that a person can grab on to" (I suppose that should be "rope tow" :))

crocodillan 04-16-2008 04:57 PM

Re: Pictionary

think more generically. yeah its a carrot. but what is a carrot....and yeah, he's lifting....but if you can life a lot, you are what?

Helanren 04-16-2008 05:08 PM

Re: Pictionary

That points to something like 'strongroot' ("Strongroot is a Quest Giving Treefellow located East by Southeast of Shame down by the new Blighted Grove"), but is that a thing :)?????

crocodillan 04-16-2008 05:13 PM

Re: Pictionary

more general than root....a carrot is very good for you! your parents always say, eat your ____! (you can eat the answer to this pictionary too! not that i would want to) and yes! he's very strong....what are some other words for strong

Re: Pictionary

It couldn't be "Vegemite" could it? (not sure how it's spelled!) like in the Men at Work song, something about a "vegemite sandwich" - I think it's a spread of some sort.

(Wow, really enjoying this real-time back-and-forth going on, instead of waiting hours or days for a reply sometimes - you ought to become a regular here, Croc!) :lol9:

I used to be a regular here ;) used to hang out in this thread all the time.

Anyway, you are absolutely correct...you're up! good job!

Re: Pictionary

:arms: Yay!

Wow, I'll have to go back and look at some of the earlier posts - I've read a few dozen pages here and there, but I didn't realize this was your kinda thing - cool!

Mostly I try to search just to see if what I want to do has been tried already, and read a few around it if I do find it. But with this long a thread, and people coming and going so much, I don't think repeats are too big a deal, myself.

Mine are always too easy! :doubt: - but there's one I've been working on - have to finish it up and then I'll be back.

Ah..... not so easy as you seem to think..... it could be

- "House of Fire" by Alice Cooper
- "This House Is On Fire" by AC/DC
- "House On Fire" by Arkarna
- "Don't Forget To Set The House On Fire Before You Crawl Into Bed (House Fire)" by the Junior Varsity
- "This House Is On Fire" by Natalie Merchant
- "Fire Makes The House Grow " by Mob Rules
- "Speel niet met vuur" by Andre Hazes
- "Als het vuur gedoofd is" by Acda en de Munnik
- "La maison est en ruine" by Michel Delpech
- "Une maison perdue" by Indochine

almost too many to mention! But, if I have to make a choice, I'll go for

"House On Fire" by Kansas :)!

(by the way, that house wouldn't be situated right next to this park, would it????)

None of yours is right! I'm amazed.

Think of it more like the action being performed instead of the result - sort of, I guess.

No, not "Light"-ing the house - :cheesy:

And congratulations on the big 3000! :arms:

Re: Pictionary

OK, "Burning Down The House" by Talking Heads or Tom Jones (and/or others, I suppose :)), should have paid more attention to that match!

I came across that title while looking for Hugh Grant movies to answer rbud's movie above, and I remembered reading about that story some time ago (maybe even when it came out, can't say exactly anymore :)) and thinking it quite funny at the time.

Nowhere in Idaho is right, of course. Good job guessing!

And so I did... :). Back to the roots, hand-drawn with that little button between the g and h on my laptopkeyboard, minimal editing, just a little bit of colour added as the finishing touch, and it's a:

(actually, for the sake of puzzling, I prefer book-, movie-, songtitles etc., but this one just came to mind )

Re: Pictionary

As it happens, I printed up a copy of your picture just before Nord went down the other day, so have had plenty of time on my hands to look at it and speculate.

And, sadly, have not come up with what I'd call a really good guess!

I did think of the top part as something like barbed wire, which made me think of the Berlin Wall, and so to justify my post, I'll put forth "Radio Berlin International" as a (far-fetched, not really a "thing"?) guess.

Do the two spots between the knobs have a significance, as in - are there missing knobs? (and is "wire" a part of the idea?)

Spoiler:
(At one point in my travels about the search engines, I did spot this little item which I found kinda entertaining!)

So, I can now proudly say my artwork has appeared in print :)?

But no, it is not a radio, and the wire isn't (supposed to be) barbed; the knobs are just knobs, nothing special to them ;).

Why, yes, I suppose you can - though it's a limited edition, with a very elite viewing audience! :lol9:

Still beating my brains out for another guess, though, and here's my latest notion -

Is it a Tesla coil?

If not, I think we must need a clue, if you would be so kind!

You mean, I am actually allowed to use those types of items for my puzzles? And people usually tell me I make them too complicated !

But, no, it's an ordinary household item (or at least, it's fast on its way to becoming one :)). And btw, don't pay too much attention to the coil, I could just as easily have drawn it like this:

Re: Pictionary

Well, making another (bad, no doubt!) :lol9: guess to hopefully keep things moving -

Is it a microwave? (guessing  but . . . ?)

(reasoning thusly - you know, a little/micro object related somehow to radios and also "an ordinary household item"?)

Remember, it's a caricature, part of which serves as the clue..... but it is not a microwave :).
You could say it is related to a radio though, maybe a much younger cousin?

So it does :)!

You took a few minor detours through the field of physics, but you did get there: flat-screen TV is the right answer. Over to you :jossun:

P.S. The barbed wire that caused so much confusion is of course a TV antenna; I got my inspiration from this picture :
