The creator made it because he thought that riddles like Notpron were too hard.

I like the dragon tail idea ! But I agree, those are probably just thorns.
Based on SF's previous musical choices though, I think it is "Over Root and Thorn" by Isis, rather than something by a 1970 blues-rock band .
And with today's music editing software applied to digital recordings, it's probably not very difficult to find a hidden message in that song either.....
