Not the Future I found this riddle on reddit, it has a quite interesting atmosphere compared to the usual riddle and it has some reoccuring themes such as war and human primates
The creator made it because he thought that riddles like Notpron were too hard.

"We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost." "The Great Dictator"
Funny thing is, I remembered SF had done something like that before (using the text, not the title as clue) and started searching in that way, but then got distracted when I had an idea of making a pictionary like that of my own (which I now cannot use for a while I guess )

Well, it looks as if nobody did, so it's more than time to let synkron have his 15 minutes of fame....
Spoiler:
No! Not those 15 minutes! I meant of course the time it currently takes people to solve a pictionary...
This is what I used:
Spoiler:
- First off, Medusa's head which you did find was of course by Caravaggio
- the rest of her, which I sort of expected people would recognize, is by Manet
- the raft I found when trying to look for an example to copy, but it fitted so well I used the thing itself. Didn't really expect anybody to know it though :
Spoiler:
- the jellyfish: in many Roman languages, Medusa or its equivalent is (another) word for jellyfish
- and the sea/airscape is from a tutorial I found on Worth1000.com after a comment somebody made in another thread. Never imagined anybody would mention that anonymous work of art, but I guess I'd better list all my sources for once !
And just for fun:
Spoiler:
The first time I heard of "The Raft of the Medusa" was actually in an article about Asterix. Uderzo uses the painting for the layout for one of the numerous pirates' shipwreckings :
For once, the translation is just as good as the original: The captain's comment, "Je suis médusé" ("I am dumbfounded") is translated in English as "We've been framed, by Jericho!" (Gericault).
The scene was later used in the film as well:
