Not the Future I found this riddle on reddit, it has a quite interesting atmosphere compared to the usual riddle and it has some reoccuring themes such as war and human primates
The creator made it because he thought that riddles like Notpron were too hard.

I do read a lot, but I have never seen that one !
The answer is not totally wrong though....but my book is much better known. If this helps: I could also have presented it as a more or less classic movie, a TV series, or even a movie 'in production'
Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne?? Although I don't see how the arrow being green has anything to do with it, Wikipedia tells me it was adapted to both a television series and a film.

Nope..
The direction of the arrow is more important than its colour, but since you can read green/red as yes/no, go/do-not-go, good/bad etc. , I thought green was more appropriate .
There is a clue in the 'map' part of the globe as well....
Is it "Out of Africa" by Isak Dinesen (the pseudonym of Danish Baroness Karen von Blixen-Finecke), first published in 1937?
(I tend to doubt it, because I'm not sure if changing the arrow color has anything to do with this one, either. Nor am I aware of a related TV series.)

Sort of the right area, but the geographical reference is to a much older place (though the story of the book only takes us back about a hundred years or so )

An even older place than he lived in

OK, forget about the colour of the arrow ! I just wanted to make sure the red arrow wasn't read as 'don't go there, because it's not there', but obviously I shoudn't have worried!
