Re: Pictionary

:rotfl: I had an eppisode like that with my dad last Sunday, and we did not end up in the water. We did not find the right way immediately either, but I blame the road and not the map :silly: And why not turn the map if that is the direction you're going? That is waaaay more logical

And yes Scouser... those are the clues :) Now try to play with them a bit.

Judging by the songs I have found so far, the single major demographic of Lexus-buyers consists of hip hop artists.....http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...lies/shoot.gifhttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...lies/drive.gifhttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...lies/shoot.gif

Does the * mean that the boat/tug/ship goes in front of the other clues? Or that the clues at the top are somehow a reference to the boat?

Maybe that would work if the clue about the east could be referring to the eastside, don't they have something like an eastside/westside thing going on? but probably off the tracks here
I found one song by Method Man that has some of the things in it, but i don't think it is it

itSFMe 07-09-2009 08:19 AM

Re: Pictionary

 I am not searching for a song from the hiphop/rap-scene.

The line with the Lexus symbol is meant like a sort of rebus... sort of. :silly:
And please, don't forget about the boat!
Spoiler:
Can anybody figure out what type of boat it is? I did not overdo it on the clues, but it's such a recognisable silhouette...

Scouser 07-09-2009 08:35 AM

Re: Pictionary

Is the Lexus (Likes his) and the boat a tug ?

itSFMe 07-09-2009 08:50 AM

Re: Pictionary

Ok, you're right Scouser - not as recognisable as I thought :bonk: No, not a tug  The winches on the back are not to tow other boats

And not "like his", but rather
Spoiler:
If Lexus is the male version/name, what would be the female version be like?

Scouser 07-09-2009 08:58 AM

Might just be me itS not recognising the boat  Is it a trawler ?

Close... Something like that, yes

For the full title: don't forget the compass and the arrow clue :)

Helanren 07-09-2009 12:33 PM

Re: Pictionary

A female Lexus is a Lexa, obviously ! I haven't found any singers with that name though...
Spoiler:
OT: but I did find an interesting bit of trivia: Lexa is a 'city' with 331 inhabitants in Arkansas, whose claim to fame is that the last known surviving widow of a veteran of the American Civil War (you know, the one between 1861 and 1865) died there in 2004.... you do the math !

itSFMe 07-09-2009 12:37 PM

Re: Pictionary

:arms: Yes, that's it HelanRen. But it's not the singer of the song  And it's not the total word... I just realise I made a little mistake  I have forgotten something, which I meant to add to the bow of the boat :bonk:
Spoiler:
add an A ...

And that "fact" is just wicked :dizzy: She must have married him after his death!?!

She married him for his war pension  There are more funny stories about these Civil War widows: this one first married a veteran, then two months after he died she married his grandson...

With that small addition, I'll go with Billy Joel, The Downeaster "Alexa" ;).
Tell my wife I am trawling Atlantis
And I still have my hands on the wheel

Nice job on the "down east" ;)! The trawler too, even if I didn't think of examining it before Scouser did...

itSFMe 07-09-2009 02:33 PM

Re: Pictionary

:arms: Indeed, that is the one

I really like that song and I wanted to use it, I just did not know how to hint for "Alexa" ... I am glad you got it in the end ;)

Your turn

It was a team effort effort thought, the only thing I could think of with the "L" was 'some sort of Japanese/Korean car??' :lol9:!

This one should qualify, I think ;).

Another song:

Re: Pictionary

Let's see what we've got here:
I see Amsterdam (I think although the H throws me off a bit), may be Haarlem? Then Vienna (the Prater, há stole that from me didn't you?) Then the London Underground.
And Macdonalds (no entry???) in Southampton, back to London to St.Paul's Cathedral perhaps.

We'll see...

First thing that comes to mind is John Lennon's

"Ballad of John and Yoko"

Spoiler:
Standing in the dock at southampton,
Trying to get to holland or france.
The man in the mac said, youve got to turn back.
You know they didnt even give us a chance.
Christ you know it aint easy,
You know how hard it can be.
The way things are going
Theyre going to crucify me.
Finally made the plane into paris,
Honey mooning down by the seine.
Peter brown called to say,
You can make it o.k.,
You can get married in gibraltar, near spain.
Christ you know it aint easy,
You know how hard it can be.
The way things are going
Theyre going to crucify me.
Drove from paris to the amsterdam hilton,
Talking in our beds for a week.
The newspapers said, say what you doing in bed?
I said, were only trying to get us some peace.
Christ you know it aint easy,
You know how hard it can be.
The way things are going
Theyre going to crucify me.
Saving up your money for a rainy day,
Giving all your clothes to charity.
Last night the wife said,
Oh boy, when youre dead
You dont take nothing with you
But your soul - think!
Made a lightning trip to vienna,
Eating chocolate cake in a bag.
The newspapers said, shes gone to his head,
They look just like two gurus in drag.
Christ you know it aint easy,
You know how hard it can be.
The way things are going
Theyre going to crucify me.
Caught an early plane back to london.
Fifty acorns tied in a sack.
The men from the press said, we wish you success,
Its good to have the both of you back.
Christ you know it aint easy,
You know how hard it can be.
The way things are going
Theyre going to crucify me.
The way things are going
Theyre going to crucify me.

Yeah, has to be that one, I should trust my guts more often!

Helanren 07-09-2009 05:47 PM

Re: Pictionary

They possibly missed out on "get married in gibraltar, near spain", but for the rest your guts are right on the mark :winnerthu

You're up :jossun:

OMG....and me being a Beatles and John Lennon fan, how could I have missed that, should have realised that ''H'' in Amsterdam was the Hilton Logo :bonk:
Way to go Aventura and also Helanren for making the pictionary.

Re: Pictionary

Thanks guys, I love the song and it's about time this was made into a pictionary! And nicely done it was  Now will I ever get that tune out of my head again?

Here is a drama:

Re: Pictionary

I can only find a book called ''the Devil's Donkey'' by Bill Brittain.

I'd guess the Devil is an ass by Ben Jonson?

Aventura 07-09-2009 10:26 PM

Re: Pictionary

Absolutely right, angelstar, now looking forward to one of yours :arms:

angelstar 07-09-2009 10:56 PM

Re: Pictionary

Hmm thanks aventura, was a nice pictionary :) Need to invent one of the top of my head and not gonna be around this weekend, so better make it an easy one (as always :rotfl:)

okay here goes, it's the title of a book, or more correctly it's the subtitle i portrayed

rbud57 07-10-2009 04:01 AM

Re: Pictionary

Let's see, a lock and key (open), Oscar Wilde, and another guy.

Hmmmm....

Helanren 07-10-2009 04:33 AM

Re: Pictionary

Looks a bit like Marlon Brando??

rbud57 07-10-2009 05:04 AM

Re: Pictionary

Nope, I found him now - it's Lord Byron.

Spoiler:
and both he and Oscar were known for scandalous bisexual behavior...hmmm, don't guess they knew each other, since they were alive at different times. (Just brainstorming.)

Also they wrote poetry.

angelstar 07-10-2009 08:08 AM

Re: Pictionary

that last line rbud is the most important and relevant to it all :) Yep it is both Wilde and Byron, but their names don't matter.
there's also a reason while the one guy is on the other guy ( and no not because of the bisexuality) if i could have made the top guy transparent or more blend in with the other guy i would have ;) but my paintskills only go that far

itSFMe 07-10-2009 08:50 AM

Re: Pictionary

Ah... Now I know which one it is (I think :rotfl:) - I think RBud deserves this one though :arms: I can't believe I failed to recognise Lord Byron :bonk:  :wall:

rbud57 07-10-2009 09:32 AM

Re: Pictionary

But I don't have any idea what it is!

Spoiler:
There's a poem called "The Rape of the Lock" by Alexander Pope, but you said we weren't going there (no bisexuality!) ;)
Feel free to step in, itSFMe! :lol9:

itSFMe 07-10-2009 09:39 AM

Re: Pictionary

Ok, here we go then - but with all credits to RBud!
The Ode Less Travelled: Unlocking the Poet Within by Stephen Fry

Scouser 07-10-2009 09:44 AM

Re: Pictionary

Bloody hell itS, I would never have found that, and nice Pictionary angel....

angelstar 07-10-2009 02:00 PM

Re: Pictionary

Yeppers, well done its :arms: and Scouser, if nobody would have found it yet i would have added a picture of a belgian fry  might have made it a bit easier!
