It's probably not the latest episode of "Dancing with the Stars", huh? :lol8:

You're all more or less right, though of course I'm going to disqualify SF for calling it a futuristic Russian event. I was going to give it to neija for identifying almost all the clues, but now I'm going to be strict and ask for the exact thing I had in mind as well as the final clue. There. Lekker pûh.

edit: I'm not even going to discuss rbuds answer.

Re: Pictionary

Well, I see a man taking a small step, and others making giant leaps, which reminds me of something relevant, but that's more of a quote than an event. Though I suppose the event during which the quote was made might qualify - which I would think of as maybe only a single word different than how neija described it.

.

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings but after the "Happy Birthday To Me" song, anythings possible:silly:

neija 05-16-2009 04:58 PM

Re: Pictionary

Is the moment he said his famous quote "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind" that you're looking for?

Re: Pictionary

:rotfl:

Yeah, yeah, OK, of course neija got it, though I was indeed looking for the first step on the moon, rather than the landing or the moonwalk.
And I suppose you can read "grand jeté" as giant leap, so that was really the last clue as well...

Over to neija therefore, with me humbly -ing

neija 05-17-2009 02:25 PM

Re: Pictionary

OK, thanks...

Being on home computer now I don't have access to the ones I made on advance.
Just a quickie now...

Something I thought of while watching the Eurovision contest.
Looking for a song:

Scouser 05-17-2009 02:37 PM

Re: Pictionary

Don't tell me it was one of those from last night !!!!!!!!!!!!!

itSFMe 05-17-2009 02:40 PM

Re: Pictionary

I can not say I watched it - I do not care much for it. I do not really feel like I get an insight into the other countries by looking at their performances and listening to their songs :doubt: Most songs are quite alike, but then again - I did not watch this year so who am I to judge? :wall: I did silently hope Norway would win - just because I thought it would be fun as they have their National Day today :silly: A sound argument to want a song to win, isn't it? :bonk:

I can not say this really rings a bell... 3 generations, with the baby and mother crossed out - keeping the grandmother in the picture :doubt:  I checked all the titles of the Eurovision Song Contest winners, but this pictionary does not seem to fit  I guess that would have been too easy
The grandmother might be singing...

Grandmother's Song - Steve Martin
:rotfl:

neija 05-17-2009 02:50 PM

Re: Pictionary

SF has found the only clue.

It's not a song from Eurovision at all, just something I noticed while watching this years show.

Scouser 05-17-2009 02:56 PM

Re: Pictionary

All I can come up with is, Vienna Teng - Grandmother Song ? but I suppose thats the same as the one itS came up with.

itSFMe 05-17-2009 02:58 PM

Re: Pictionary

I kind of like this one :)
Rebecca Pidgeon - Grandmother

neija 05-17-2009 03:03 PM

Re: Pictionary

It's a another word for grandmother I'm looking for.

Jimborama 05-17-2009 07:07 PM

Re: Pictionary

There are quite a few songs with Nana / Na Na / Na Na Na Na Na

Also, there are a few Grandma songs too, hmmm...

neija 05-17-2009 08:00 PM

Re: Pictionary

Still not what I'm after.

The name has a link with this years Eurosong...think I said enough with that.

The Russian entry was called Mamo.

Re: Pictionary

I like to think that dressed like this, Cat Stevens could have entered the 1967 Songfestival to sing Granny, in stead of just releasing it on his Matthew and Sons album. Well, who knows, maybe he did :)!

neija 05-17-2009 10:05 PM

Re: Pictionary

Nope, but think that Jimbo knows.

itSFMe 05-17-2009 11:07 PM

Re: Pictionary

Ok, if it is Jimbo who might know, does that mean we're looking for the russian word for grandmother?
Kate Bush - Babooshka

Jimborama 05-18-2009 01:35 AM

Re: Pictionary

I think I know the title, though not sure on the artist.
SF, you might have thought right past it

neija 05-18-2009 07:18 AM

Re: Pictionary

Yay!! SF is the winner!!

See that it wasn't that hard to find :)

To explain...
In between the songs they always showed a Russian word with the English translation under it. Saw Babooshka and thought that would be a nice one :)

Nice one! With the "Russian" connection, that's the one that came to my mind too
Spoiler:
(though I really liked the idea of 'na na naa na, na na naa na, hey hey' as well; never knew that was a song by itself as I only know the football chant :rotfl:)

YouTube - Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye

itSFMe 05-18-2009 08:17 AM

Re: Pictionary

Well, honestly - I only got it because Jimbo said Russia :)

Here we go for a new SONG

neija 05-18-2009 10:08 AM

Re: Pictionary

Hmmm...what do we see...

Someone rolling down a mountain, landing on his/her face in the mud?

What about...

Amerie - Rolling down my face

Re: Pictionary

You got most of the clues

Not the song though

angelstar 05-18-2009 07:03 PM

Re: Pictionary

Could it be INXS-Kiss the dirt (falling down the mountain) by any chance?

:arms: Yes, that is right AngelStar :jossun:

Your turn :)

Helanren 05-18-2009 07:25 PM

Re: Pictionary

Mud had a single called "Up the Airy Mountain"; I suspect this song must be the B-side ;)?

Can't find that song on YouTube, but I'm sure you all want to know/remember what early 70's glam rock was all about, so here's an other one:

edit: Oops, time to refresh the page again....

angelstar 05-18-2009 07:45 PM

Re: Pictionary

 i thought about the Mud one first as well :) but i know how much its likes INXS so it seemed more approriate
Okay, here's mine, pretty sure it's gonna be guessed in seconds
it's a movie

I'm not gonna give too much extra tips just yet okay

Re: Pictionary

Yep you're right there Scouser and neija was correct about the sins as well, though technically if i would get tough on you :silly: you should give me the full title since there's a small reference to something else as well  but i'm not a toughie so over to you again Scouser

Jesse James by Coward Robert Ford,

The fact that you all but spelled out the missing "???...sin" part must have helped too !

By 'small' reference, I assume you mean the complete last picture in the sequence, that of a model T in front of the Ford Motor Company ?
Spoiler:
Which seems to fit; I didn't know the film, but Wikipedia tells me the full title was "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford"

I'm pretty sure that's the Abbey Road crossing, but I don't know who the two people are?

angelstar 05-18-2009 10:29 PM

Re: Pictionary

Hmmm first thing that pops up in my mind is The Crossing Guard, but that's probably not it since he doesn't really look to much like one of those?
and well the thing is i didn't put clues to all the words in my pictionary so i do take the abreviated title as correct as well :)
