I really love dogs; however, leaving such a social animal on his/her own in your place, while you're working, would be a very bad idea, and cause much grief for as well owner as 'bow-wow'.

My son, at some stage, should have a pet to look after, so he can experience the meaning of the expression "take responsibility"; monitored by us parents, obviously, as animals need protection from ignorant caretakers...

I agree absolutely, Arno, but the loss of a pet is so painful to have to put a child through when the animal eventually dies.

This cannot be difficult... I know for a fact that a lot of elderly people keep their sanity and health by the grace of havin a pet to relieve their loneliness. This means that the very common rule in OAP-homes, which forbids owning an animal, is actually undermining the reason for existence of these places...

My favourite holiday destination is the UK, with a preference for Scotland and Wales (please do not take offence, you English...;) ).
My last trip, however, was two years ago, to the lovely Isle of Wight (see...? not only Gael destinations...)

This will sound strange and familiar at the same time: I have viited almost all the ilsands in Britain (apart from the Hebrides, but to date not a single one in my own country (save Schouwen-Duiveland, which is not a real island any more).
