I think you are completely correct :bow:!

I was going to ask for the exact location in Swaziland (the answer is the Royal Kraal at Ludzidzini, which you can deduce from the reedbundles stacked in the back of the picture, brought there by the maidens participating in the reed dances), but you already gave so much detail that I assume you know that as well (or would quickly find out :)).

The red feathers are only worn by the royal princesses, and the girl on the right is indeed Princess Sikhanyiso.

About 20 years ago, I spent a year teaching in Swaziland, which is a beautiful country (sort of Africa in a nutshell, with everything from mountains to wildlife to dry veldt in an area a little over half the size of Belgium) and I was able to get permission to see the Umhlanga reed dances at the the time.

These days, mainly because of AIDS, Swazi life expectancy is about the lowest in the world (32 years at birth in 2007) and one third of all the children are orphans. Sad....

:lol: Yes I am, couldn't afford two big trips in a row....they sometimes put up an artificial icerink on the Museumplein in winter, between the Concertgebouw and the Rijksmuseum.
