Madeira archipelago has only two inhabited islands Madeira and Porto santo.

Porto Santo is the 2nd inhabited island and Vila Baleira is the name of the city which, as you say, has 9km of beautiful yellow sand beach being this the main attraction for tourists.

Just as curiosity I can let you know that Christopher Columbus married and lived in Porto Santo for some time and nowadays his house can be visited as a museum. ;)

I don't mean to sound like a twit but wouldn't Asia be closer than Canada? ... I'm asking because obviously I don't know as, like I've said before, geography was never my strong subject. :lol:
