For the non-Dutch: Flevonice is an artificial, 5 km long ice track. For most of the Dutch, though (speed)skating on a 400 m track is a nice thing to do every now and then, "real" skating is done outside, on the ditches and canals through the polders, or on the lakes. Unfortunately, that was only possible for a few days each year in the last few decades, and this 5 km track is a nice compromise. It's open for three and a half months or so in winter, and in summer it has a tarmac circuit used for skeelering/inline skating, rollerskiing, blo-karting (sailing on land) and stuff like that, a dirt circuit for mountainbiking, and many other activities.

I have been thinking it might be one of those wildlife "viewing stands", but it's a bit too close to the water, and very "uncamouflaged". There seems to be a big part (a hall or so?) behind the front, so maybe a hotel....

Most of the "built on stilts" images I find direct me to Asia, but somehow the vegetation doesn't seem right. So let's start afresh: are you in Africa (;))?

That's Portmeirion in Wales (as is obvious from the architecture :lol9:!) where The Prisoner was shot....;).
Described here as “a giant gnome’s village; an asylum invented by its maddest inmate, and possibly the greatest folly in the Western World”, with some other nice pictures :lol:.

And yes the children in my street came over to our house to watch Pipo de Clown at wednesday-afternoon.
That white balloon was really scary, it gobbled people up. I probably was too young to watch it, don't know why my parents let me. It gave me nightmares.

We used to go over to a neighbour's house on wednesday afternoons too. I remember a series with a cowboy who used to shoot with 'bruine bonen' (rather than 'blauwe'), no idea what it was though :).
