I don't know how you do it Mookie - you must have been awake all night!!

Have you looked in the source...?

Re: God Tower

I'll sleep plenty after I'm dead :)

yea, I'm trying to make some connections. There seems to be some between picture and the clue but it is still very faint one. Google will be the death of me.

Kytten 11-17-2005 02:45 PM

Re: God Tower

I have been looking up
Spoiler:
Henry Peacham... don't know if that is getting anywhere..lol

Mookie 11-17-2005 02:56 PM

Re: God Tower

yea brushed against this one too. Other thoughts to consider.
Spoiler:

Page (and as many in Minerva Britanna) mention the name King James. When you look thru many other emblems, name James is plentiful

Moving on to another clue

Spoiler:

Bottom clue, Can You Read It? -- no quite frankly, almost broke my mouth trying LOL -- Ask J's Brother, Big J's I think, and guess what his name was?
Then the "Get a Code", well the book The Da Vinci Code" speculates a lot about, Jesus, his earthly life, family. But it could simply remind us to check the Source Code to get the other clue.

Another tidbit

Spoiler:

Sticking with "James" for now, King James version of the bible was designed/translated for a common man. Kind of plays to "can you read it" bit.

Anyhow, that's what I'm pondering.

All I can think of is:
Spoiler:
Some letters are missing or added. Maybe it just like B1?

I think this is just how things were printed those days. Seems no different between this and blow up from the internet.

This is much confusing...also there are a lot of words I can't understand....we need Sylvan lol

Hello all, good to see Level 10 is up at last. Well, i have to take a closer look, just opened it. I think iīll have a look at the latin phrases, allthough i donīt think itīs helpful at all :icon_lol: Maybe we should find out whether J is for Jesus or James.

Kytten 11-17-2005 05:18 PM

Re: God Tower

Hi Elric and Matx!
____________________

Just a thought about James
Spoiler:
King James 1 who commisioned the new Bible and whom I assume is referred to in this page was an only child...
So who is J's brother?

Mookie 11-17-2005 05:21 PM

Re: God Tower

Personally I thought J as in Jesus' brother, whose name's James as well.

Sylvan 11-17-2005 06:30 PM

Re: God Tower

I'm here! lol

This one looks to be fun. Just glanced at it so far - but my fist impressions are that it has something to do with the separatist factions and the mayflower - pilgrims.

They were oft quoted as calling James "dreaded sovereign"

It may also be about King James being the self proclaimed ruler of France as well as Britain.

The text is in Olde English and is about God bestowing a the crown of England and france and Man abusing power - sort of.

Haven't looked at the source yet - that function is not available on this terminal.

Very interesting that some words can be read through the document from the back side ...

Thanks Kytten for the right source!! LOL

Re: God Tower

I've found a very interesting discussion of Peacham.

Apparantly he used both a cypher wheel and anagrams within this piece - haven't yet made the connection - but here's the link to the discussions:

Re: God Tower

It looks like a little piece of the "fr" in the first line from the word "from" has fallen down and is just after the word "depend:" at the end of the first line of the second verse.

I am finding more differences too... the "o" from "fall on them" 2nd line from the bottom...

It could all just be nothing though...

Mookie 11-17-2005 07:52 PM

Re: God Tower

hmmm, good catch.
Spoiler:

image definitely tweaked. Part of "r" is still there though. Something to keep in mind at least I guess. 7th line, second word. "e" gone too

Line 6 obiiged ( l -> i)

Edit: to many coincidences. I guess I shouldn't have dismissed DP's original comment :)

the f hasn't fallen - it's just been erased.

the letters that look like ft on "doft depend" actually traslates from the olde english to "dost depend"

anyone need the text translated?

here's a really good image of the original document:

Mookie 11-17-2005 08:30 PM

Re: God Tower

Actually it has fallen, it follows "depend:", look closer. dost is not in question.

Sylvan 11-17-2005 08:36 PM

Re: God Tower

hmm ... you're right - my apologies.

That is odd. there must be a reason for that ... but GOD (no pun intended  ) only knows what ...

also -- lok in the very bottom left - there are three letters that are not on the original. The first could be the J (or I) that is missing from IAMES -

I cannot make out the other two clearly ...

Mookie 11-17-2005 08:51 PM

Re: God Tower

I saw that, could be part of missing "regere", very bottom, right, last line.

Sylvan 11-17-2005 11:28 PM

Re: God Tower

Had a horrible thought here. I keep finding stuff on Bible Codes. Apparantly there is a whole culture involved in finding secret codes within the bible. Most of them seem to rely on something called Equidistant Letter Sequences (ELS) where you cram all the letters together with no spaces and read every xth letter.

I'm not liking the references at all - but is it possible that there is some connection?

I tried counting off the letters between missing ones and got 118, 66 then gave up.

no idea how many to count or even if it's relevant.

also - we do have 6 missing or relocated letters

F I(J) O E RE

Can't make anything of them though. no anagrams, no hits on the caesar cypher.

MatX 11-17-2005 11:42 PM

Re: God Tower

hmm I understand what you're talking about...there are a lot of letters lol

1 Nisi desuper / King James / Hand of God from the sky, crown, chains / Virgil, Claudien, Schetland, Thilemel, Homer, James I

Oh this link has been posted already!! Didn't notice lol-...

Sylvan 11-18-2005 12:38 AM

Re: God Tower

found another anomaly in the document:

6th line down:

To G O D obiiged (original says To G O D obliged)

Also - i've found references to Francis Bacon's Bi-Literal Cipher as well other ciphers when searching for codes in re: Minerva Britanna

MatX 11-18-2005 03:18 AM

Re: God Tower

I'm checking the letters and I keep finding the same as you sylvan...nothing works(I think)

Re: God Tower

I'm leaning towards some type of pun or play on words.

I've found a lot stuff regarding the piece that indicate shakespeare (Minerva/Athena shaking her spear)

Also - there is an interesting bit on the title page :

title page of Minerva which illustrates a hand coming out from behind a theatrical curtain covering a "discovery space".

The hand is in the act of writing on a scroll the words "MENTE. VIDEBOR(i)"-"by the mind I shall be seen" . Clarke alleged-incorrectly it transpires-that this Latin legend spelled an anagram, "TIBI NOM. DE VERE")-"thy name is de Vere."

There's a lot of very interesting stuff on word play w/in minerva britanna in that link i posted earlier.

npfan 11-18-2005 06:35 AM

this is just in case you didnt know

you need to do all of "L" levels and the "R" levels to proceed to level 58

i know, i there right now
