The creator made it because he thought that riddles like Notpron were too hard.

@Bruja, I used an inkwell as well, it was built into my desk and if you had been particularly ''good'' that week, you got to fill those wells from a big bottle at the end of the week
So I guess it's for 'gathering unruly things'. And perhaps a bit of 'hanging'...?
And, as we know now, probably in a bath room. Hmmm... here I think of one of the sockets that hold the bar for the shower curtain.
LOL, no you are taking my words too literarely, it's not for hanging, you do gather things with it, but not unruly things.
It's for gathering one thing only which is normally kept inside a box, this is for when you loose the box (or perhaps break it I suppose) although that has never happened to mé and I doubt anyone else has had it happen to them.
So all in all a pretty useless item, guess who invented it?
