The creator made it because he thought that riddles like Notpron were too hard.

Actually, I have been trying to find a - more or less - religious purpose for this . But we have discarded candles and religious books already, it doesn't seem useful as a censer either...
Maybe a place to store urns with the ashes of your dearly departeds then ?
