Not the Future I found this riddle on reddit, it has a quite interesting atmosphere compared to the usual riddle and it has some reoccuring themes such as war and human primates
The creator made it because he thought that riddles like Notpron were too hard.

You stayed in Jettegrytene - Giant Kettles - Nissedal, Telemark, Norway.
I found a lot of Flickr and Panoramio pictures but not a lot of other information. I do know how the pot-holes were formed, but I still don't know how the water temperature changes with the seasons. I could not find the pictures of the bathers in the foaming water, but I suspect the bubles are created by a small waterfall, like this

i saw that when i looked for the jettegrytene---more backtracking!!
and just as an aside- the jettegrytene came into existence when the main river was moved to a pipe to make electricity- in the 50's i think. this is one of the most magical places on earth and the pictures that are on the net do not show how wonderful it is!! if you have the chance in the summer to visit it, it will be a memory for life
It reminds me of a yurt, a mongolian tent, although it's obviously not made of cloth.
Not even sure if it's for habitition, probably not, looking at the low round fence/wall around it.
So what could it be than? A fountain that's not working or a memorial site?

It is made of concrete, or some other building material.
It is not for habitation not a memorial but a public building, part of a larger complex. The rest of the building is underground.
