Spoiler:
So it was semaphare code then ? You (could have) fooled me ....

(I thought this was one example where I could try my hand at brute forcing, but no wonder it didn't work.....:

"eh egav em sthi rgifmake klin" ;))

jklmpquvwxz are missing

 Strange, I really toyed with the idea of showing the complementary set, but then I thought: Nah, too cumbersome...
Thus, on the upper sign you see the very alphabet the solution is made of.

Re: Cryptomania

There are 15 letters in that sign, and if we pair the symbols (eyes come in pairs) there are 15 different combinations. That should mean every two symbols represent a letter.... (that might also mean I'm totally lost, of course )

[edit] If I'm right, we could do a kind of "coordinates system", I mean a chart, with up-left-right-down (in a specific order) on top and up-left-right-down on the side... The up-up square should be a blank, as there's no letter associated... If I'm right.

Re: Cryptomania

Some thoughts....

the letters comes in 4 versions (M, W, E and B), which also suggests 4x4=16 letters

-----------------------------------------------------

WM EE WB MB BB WE MM EW EM WE BW BE ME EB MW BM EE EW

so EE, WE, EW twice, no WW, the rest once

tried an anagram solver on the 15 letters a-y + 3 letters double, but that gives too many possibilities :), so we need some logic (I hope...)

--------------------------------

letter# in the game (a-i, n-o, r-t, y):
01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 14 15 17 18 19 25

can't convert that to a 2 digit sequence 1-4, 1-4 (or 0-3, 0-3), I think ;)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Re: Cryptomania

I've also been thinking about that, the "we need some logic" part, I mean.
"Symbols randomly associated to letters" doesn't sound right; there must be some underlying system...
Maybe there's another hint we haven't seen? The weird hairdo of the doctor, for instance ?

... up-left-right-down (in a specific order) ...
 Starting with 'up' is a good idea. For the rest: think clock.

... 2 digit sequence ... 0-3, 0-3 ...
 Good idea too.

I thought up should be last, as up-up isn't there... hence my first 6 charts (12 readings, as I read them x-y and then y-x) made me think my system was wrong.
Now I began with up-up, but leaving that first square empty (???) why? something to do with that 0-3 idea?
Well; that's my chart:

.... That's all
Spoiler:
(I have nothing ready, and haven't thought of anything, either :embarasse)

Re: Cryptomania

Why are these things so easy once you've seen how it works ???

"be coy and farsighted", which, as far as Google knows, for once is not a famous quote - though it could have been ;).
