Re: Cryptomania 1 - 2 - only the upper half? 3 - try simplest math possible :207: |
Re: Cryptomania 3 Attachment(s) The upper half of Marian Rejewski, I presume... (as that would be the side we'd be looking at if we actually climbed that fence coming from the other side of the street) But if we were there we could see that the three sides have different numbers: Spoiler: |
Re: Cryptomania ... Rejewski ... I wouldn't prefer one to the others. ... sides have different numbers ... Yes, amazing, isn't it? They must have reckoned someone would really walk around this lump and check that out. Clever Poles. |
Re: Cryptomania 2 Attachment(s) I've found a better pic of zygalski's side... Spoiler: but the simplest maths are not working... or I can't read the right numbers yet. [edit] In my computer screen the image was much neater... :frown: [second edit] Zygalski's numbers: Spoiler: I'll be back with the other sides, when I can read them Attachment 72627 |
Re: Cryptomania 1 Attachment(s) Quote:
Spoiler: OK, let's see where you all got to in the mean time.... [edit] In my search for the full text, google keeps sending me here.... and then asks for money  [edit2] Best I can make up for the Marian Rejewski side is Spoiler: But I have a feeling we are making things too complicated perhaps....? |
Re: Cryptomania ... the full text ... asks for money ... Hehe... 33.00 EUR minimum... for some probably silly blah about a handful of decimal digits  Hey, we should monetize this thread  ... making things too complicated ... Well, I used only the top 9 lines (didn't want to write a novel) of the monument. Those should be nicely readable on most photos. |
Re: Cryptomania So you have no need for my full size Zygalski then :banghead:? Spoiler: Jerzy Różycki was a bit harder to find ;) Spoiler: |
Re: Cryptomania Hel, I don't know how you found those images, I spent a long time yesterday trying to find the numbers and didn't make it... Of course, now it was easy, but it was all your work. So... do you want to solve it (in case you already have something)? Or would you prefer me to give the answer (in case you don't have anything)? |
Re: Cryptomania Quote:
I just found a higher resolution pic of your Rejewski photo and copied the numbers from that. The Różycki one was hard, but I finally got one where the two top lines weren't cut off (in fact, I even found a better one later). Quote:
But if you solved it, go ahead. So far, I only tried to add each individual number, and then add/subtract Bolaf's number to/from the total, but I stopped when my first line read 8-13-17-7-4-18-18-19-17-26-10-6 h-m-q-g-d-r-r-s-q-z-j-f and I couldn't make any immediate sense of that.... of course it was late.... To be honest, I still don't see where I went wrong (Caesars again ?), so you better finish the team effort! |
Re: Cryptomania You might have made a mistake while copying the numbers... The first line: 3 5 6 8 0 7 1 4 0 4 7 5 6 5 2 1 7 8 1 0 4 6 3 7 8 9 3 1 0 4 8 9 4 8 2 0 -9 -6 8 -3 1 -1 8 6 9 8 1 -6 8 13 19 7 8 18 18 19 17 26 13 6 H M S G H R R S Q Z M F Shift one space in the alphabet: I N T H I S S T R A N G And the whole text reads: In this strange game of complexity you are a brave and happy gambler when numericall data evolves and becomes as clear as clear text. (I think the double "l" is there... or I made a mistake. But this time I used excel... I'm improving my methods ) |
