Re: Cryptomania Fleissner Grilles Berta: 6x6 Unfortunately I have no time now to read about it... so that's all for now |
Re: Cryptomania 1 Attachment(s) Correct  (want to have a bonus point Attachment 80690 for it :)?) |
Re: Cryptomania So since its a 6x6, the table should look like this if rotating: 1 2 3 7 4 1 4 5 6 8 5 2 7 8 9 9 6 3 3 6 9 6 8 7 2 5 8 6 5 4 1 4 7 3 2 1 Writing the message in order by quadrants makes: E T R E O F A Y L O H R N N T U Q L T E E E I T N S T E O N O M O S U W Since the names are identified, I wonder what those numbers are for: 466 322 364 4+6+6+3+2+2+3+6+4=36 Perhaps the numbers have to be applied to the grid. |

Re: Cryptomania I found a online tool But inputting the text exactly doesn't seem to help See my edits in this post  |
Re: Cryptomania That tool seems to be missing something though :)? Or maybe it uses a simplified grille  |
Re: Cryptomania Guess I'll have to shift it myself. 9x4=36 don't think it's a coincidence ;) Is there an extra step? |

Re: Cryptomania Hmm.. Does 466322364 refer to the rotating grid? So would the first 9 letters be: A F E W S O I S E Or perhaps I have to rotate first a full 360 Is one of the words Queen? |
Re: Cryptomania 466322364 does have a relation with the grille, but it doesn't define (not directly anyway) the lettersequence; the coded text you work with is simply what Bruja mentioned (as her romantic ideal ;)) |
Re: Cryptomania So... The ww1 men and names were just a hint to a 6x6 grille? No turning involved :doubt: Those numbers seem like the key :confused3 |

Re: Cryptomania I found this site (was going to use it for a crypto of mines :rotfl: ) Les grilles tournantes du colonel Fleissner *Which I found you already used and Bolaf already did Mathias Sandorf My grille isn't working :confused3 Splitting the numbers into quadrants, there seems to be a problem 46 63 22 364 the 2 can't be used twice in one quadrant. So it could be 46 632 2364 or 46 6 32 2364 etc. |
Re: Cryptomania And, anyway, it wouldn't work... You have to choose different numbers from 1 to 9 on each quadrant. If you take -for instance- 628 for quadrant 1 and then 25 for quadrant 2, one letter will be read more than once and another letter won't appear at all in the final sentence... So we must do something different with those numbers... Still thinking.... |
Re: Cryptomania Weird, I'm pretty sure I answered link yesterday already (in response to his 'first' grid, which I didn't understand ;)): Quote:

Re: Cryptomania I saw that too bruja while researching. I tried using phonespell (making words from the phone) You said those numbers had something to do with the men? (if I remember correctly) So ww1? |
Re: Cryptomania Nope, WWI and Germans were an extra clue to get from Anna, Berta etc to Fleißner grilles, specifically a 6x6 one (which happens to be the size on that site you found :whistling). Use the numbers as the "key" for the grille (in a very simple way actually ;)) |
Re: Cryptomania 466322364 seems like I need to decode it. Not A=1, hex, ascii etc. DFFCBBCFD |
Re: Cryptomania Nope, no decoding of the numbers is necessary  |
Re: Cryptomania I over complicated it ;) XXXOXO XXXXXO XXOXXX XOXXXX XOOXXO XXXOXX ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT MEET YOU SOON |
Re: Cryptomania 2 Attachment(s) So you did  Spoiler: over to link :jossun: |
Re: Cryptomania 1 Attachment(s) |
Re: Cryptomania Well, your sentence reads NATO (maybe a reference to the NATO alphabet ?) and the image shows Oscar... and that's all for now :frown: |
Re: Cryptomania Oscar apparently is Oscar the Grouch; hadn't even noticed NATO ;) Oscar -> Acadamy Awards (""todayscryptomania")? Maybe number combinations are nth award ceremony-letter in name (of best film?) |
Re: Cryptomania  And my own personal bonus point goes to... Hel!!!! You wouldn't believe the things I tried (trying to find films with three or one or five oscars that year, for instance... and that wasn't the worst idea I had...) |
Re: Cryptomania Haha, the first 4 letters in that case would be "andt", suggesting "and the winner is.....", but I have no time now to finish it :) |
Re: Cryptomania Over a month now, needs a HUGE shove. (Im sure Hel can finish his work) |
Re: Cryptomania Let me see, what did I do again ? "And the Oscar goes to" ;) |
Re: Cryptomania Agh sorry Hel. Didn't notice that you completed it. lol. OK Hel, when you get to, please post another one. :) |
Re: Cryptomania I have sort of an idea in mind, but cannot get it worked out ;). So, in the mean time, if anybody else has an idea, be my guest! |

Re: Cryptomania A 7-letter word? [edit] Coordinates on a map (e.g. Legend Of Zelda)? Spoiler: |
Re: Cryptomania 7 letter word  No legend of Zelda here, but nice idea. |
Re: Cryptomania music notation? |
Re: Cryptomania Yes. That's the first step. But where from music? |
Re: Cryptomania Funny. Was trying to use the frequencies yesterday... Spoiler: ... but didn't come very far. |
Re: Cryptomania It's not their frequencies, but you are using the right instrument ;) Remember: This is a multi-step one. I'll confirm if you complete a step. |
Re: Cryptomania 1 Attachment(s) the semitone numbers would be 74, 83, 71, 76, 81, 69 or |
Re: Cryptomania Not semitonal. However, both of you are close. Numbers are needed for the first step  |
