Re: Cryptomania

- 47th state is New Mexico
- looks a bit like Youtube urls
- ....

- time to unspoil the hint maybe ;)

No YT hits ;). Allium cepa is the 'common' onion.

Re: Cryptomania

Not refering to New Mexico, but you'll know how to interpret 'state 47' when you have peeled our code onion - which shouldn't be too hard, since it's a widely used encoding type.

Re: Cryptomania

I don't widely use any encoding type, apart from 2ROT13 perhaps .
But I had already been  about the connection onion <-> peeling...

And I had thought of using "onion" as a key (keyed caesar or vigenere) but I'm confused by the capital / low case letters and numbers.
I'll think about it again tomorrow, it's too late now...

Base 64 texts look similar , now to figure out how that works ;).

Re: Cryptomania

 Yes, it's Base64.

Re: Cryptomania

Hmmm, tried

- full text
- going round in circles (Vm14a01HRnJOVmhW 0w6 9AjehVUMVZ1VaZlV etc.)
- peeling off outer shell (kdoV1lURndWbGx VRSak1WcHlWMnQ lUxWFVucFZiRkp - that was a nice one: "‘U›QI5YX•LV[œ˜‘’" :))
- any sort of group of 4 consecutive characters in the hope of finding a sensible 3 character result

and I can't find any suggestions that you can even use base64 with a key ('onion')

Your first try (full text) was the best...
