Re: Cryptomania

Of course I understand that a group size of 2^n is obvious, given the line length of 8. But what about thinking outside the line?

Re: Cryptomania

I did think of 3, but figured you'd group them differently - though I can see this way 16x3 probably fits best to the square placard.
Also the numbers seemed 'too high' ;)
Spoiler:
89 69 83 33 87 69 60 51
67 72 73 71 78 79 78 83

Doesn't help me yet though.... maybe 12/24/48 :)?

Not much better....

Yes, the 'groups of 3' yield the right numbers
(My first pic version also had 3 women in it, but that would have been too easy)

By sheer bruteforcing Attachment 68295:

Yes (?) we (?) (?) chignongs

As I couldn't find the logic behind the cipher or the equivalence for the lower numbers, I googled "89 Y".... to discover it's simply ASCII

Now it reads:
Yes! We <3 chignons

Fortunately I discovered -just some days ago- that <3 stands for love (a heart as seen with your head tilted)

A very astute guess, considering the many possibilities ;).

After all, what's not to love about babies ?

Chignon: a temporary swelling left on an infant's head after delivery by a ventouse suction cap

Re: Cryptomania

Wow, bruteforcing such a tiny piece of text (which, even worse, contains about 20% of non-letter symbols)... that's truly impressing!

The chignons actually refer to the women's buns, but its interesting to see there's also a connection to babies.

Over to Bruja :jossun:

The bruteforcing began at 78-79-78, that could be "aba", not very promising, and then 83 should be F.... could be "ded", but then 83 was I... could be "non", mmm... that looks better, and 83 is S, let's try that! Not very impressive, I'm afraid.

I can't rely on my two neurons to make a good encryption, so I resorted to my pictorial skills  (I could have written it -maybe closer to the original idea of the thread- but this adds more fun :cheesy:)

Attachment 68324

If you find it a bit nonsensical... well, then you've decoded it right!

but in any case, there are lots of nice places around where you could do stuff with cryptic images.... ;)

Hel was going in the wrong direction anyway, besides being busy trying to put out a new crypti before the world disappears tonight
