Re: Cryptomania Oh i see. You need all of them, however those 8 with the #s you need to convert. |
Re: Cryptomania The marked symbols (HJ HH DI TK) build pairs. Important? As of conversion: - Does 'sounds' refer to music, thus # means sharp? - A letter->letter conversion? Are dot&space part of the solution, or just part of another step (e.g. morse)? |
Re: Cryptomania No pairs. Convert separately. Sounds was just a hint for well done -> weldon Not letter to letter. But letter to... # ;) Think simple with what # means You already solved dot and space. Dot is a period and space is a space. |
Re: Cryptomania Guess we're talking CODE TALKER... interesting. |
Re: Cryptomania Code Talker is the answer :winnerthu How did you find the answer? |
Re: Cryptomania Replaced the marked letters by their alphabet position number: "DHJ.CHHNDI TK" -> "D810.C88N49 2011" (which happens to be a book ID) Already did that yesterday (since # usually means decimal or position) but only for 0-based index. Forgot to check your 1-based index - ok, I was pretty tired at that time. |
Re: Cryptomania Correct :) It's the book ID for the book at Weldon Library I didn't spell out the numbers because it would take too long, so I used a shortcut. Your turn |

Re: Cryptomania Recycling I see  The hint decodes to: START WITH CP1252 CP1252 is Windows-1252 The first string spells out 0þëñTh¡5Fí1é-> Am i supposed to use CP1252 for all of it? |
Re: Cryptomania CP1252 was just for the first step (reading the info) which you have accomplished  The rest (54 byte) is apparently a hex dump... |
