Looks like Morse Code. Anyway, I just stopped by to see what this thread was about and see it's way too complicated for my teensy brain. But had to say that Bolaf's post is hilarious. Absolutely mind-numbing hilarious. :rotfl:

And even if you think it's too complicated.... why don't you come from time to time and give us ideas, please?? Bolaf can really be too complicated, we could use all the help you could give us.
(everybody against Bolaf.... :devil_2: ha! ... and he would win anyway )

I've been wondering how those dashes appeared at the same level on the post, when they're clearly at different levels when you quote the text.

Depends on the font. In Courier they look (almost) the same, in Times (or other fonts, like, Arial) they look zigzaggy.
My first version had two columns, but Nord's layout width restriction always inserted ugly line breaks. Then, after a couple design corrections - e.g. making it only 1 column wide - I totally forgot one closing font tag, which is the reason why my nice unobtrusive Courier-dashes are rendered suspiciously looking (in Times) in an editor like Word, Write or OpenOffice.
Of course, sooner or later you would have spotted the differences in their lengths anyway; so my font mishap was just a little accelerant...

 Oh, the poor broken agents are still pondering...

Transmit us your secret msgs, Hel :jossun:

Funny, so you could see it 'on the Nord page' itself? I saw (or could have seen, if I'd paid attention) it in that email message I showed, but here on the site it was all but invisible:

I guess you (or I :)) have changed the standard Nord font sometime in our settings

OK, need to think about a new one.....

Re: Cryptomania

No, here at Nord I couldn't see the different dashes. I chose "quote" to copy Bolaf's text in Word because I thought there had to be a kind of steganography, so I wanted to know whether he had used different fonts, or hidden pixels with info, or any other clue... When I saw the text in Word I realized the dashes were different.
I never changed Nord's standard settings, I wouldn't know how to do it... I even had a hard time to upload an avatar, I spent the first year or so without it because I didn't know how to upload an image

BREAKING NEWS!
NORDINHO'S CRYPTO THREAD
NO LONGER A SECRET??

−–−––−––−−––––−−––−–––−–−–––−–−––−–

_In last week's dispatch, we told
you about the severe difficulties
the authorities seem to be having
in decyphering the message boards
of an obscure games site commonly
known as Nord.___________________
However, we can now tell you that
new and promising developments in
the intriguing case seem to indi-
cate a solution is near, and that
a breakthrough is expected.______

Researchers found three repeating
groups of code in the Cryptomania
texts that occurred with striking
regularity, and therefore came to
the conclusion this was no fluke:

"Bpaaf nftda"

"Bsmvv ewwoy gtzes jjlzt
itxlq ixxos fjdui vnkhe"

"Hlwwj aerzr xrvnf nagzg
kinvb vmqth burol"

Those final seven groups it seems
must be part of a somewhat larger
series, garbled at some point be-
cause of a bug in the software.__

With this new information, it may
be possible to recover the method
of encryption employed in the la-
test enigma found on the site:___

"Nfffl pcvnn eiosl emzfh sgyct"
