BREAKING NEWS! SNOWDEN COUGHS UP:
NSA SPIES ON NORDINHO'S CRYPTO THREAD!

−–−––−––−−––––−−––−–––−–−–––−–−––−–

Despite common belief, the secrets
of the internet are not completely
transparent for the almighty NSA._
Based on recent disclosures on the
part of Edward Snowden, the gaming
portal Nordinho (more precisely: a
thread called Cryptomania) does in
fact hide information successfully
from the greedy eyes of investiga-
tors all over the world.__________
__General Alexander, current chief
of several security related insti-
tutions like NSA and CSS, was said
to have written dozens of internal
memos in which he complained about
the sluggish, not to say non-exis-
tant decipherment of even the eas-
iest Cryptomania posts: «I really_
don't care if the Russians fail at
solving those puzzles, but to rea-
lize that our own specialists fail
miserably too... that makes me cry
into the pillows every night. That
is not acceptable!»_______________
__Sadly, his confession is but the
tip of a tremendous iceberg. Since
Oct 2012, way too many experienced
NSA crypto analysts have requested
their instant dismissal in case of
further Cryptomania related tasks.
__«Really, it's a disaster,» moans
a spokesman, «our computer network
isn't able to break their multiple
encryption and encoding layers. It
keeps crashing on a regular basis.
And when their steganographic mad-
ness kicks in, we can't even guess
what data to feed our machines, we
never have the faintest clue where
to start. How the hell are we sup-
posed to find their effin messages
when they're hidden so well?»_____

Spoiler:
When Bolaf posted the list of cities I had a bad feeling about it. Checked the codes, looked for a map of South America, marked the cities and joined the dots.... NO, NO, it's a coincidence, that's NOT a letter!!!
I didn't have time to look for the other cities... but when I came back and read Bolaf's post with the answer.... :sobbing:
That's exactly what I had been trying to do! Not with telephone numbers, but... that was the exact idea. A reference to different cities, to join the dots and read something. Unfortunately due to the method I had chosen I couldn't choose just any town, that's why I had troubles finishing it....
Attachment 78617 ... I'll keep my work. Maybe I still can think of a way of using it.

And now let's think about the new one....

.... interesting "[ color = "transparent"]__[/ color ]" all over the text.... Just to keep the indentations? there's one between "I really" and "don't care"....

[edit] Noticed another funny thing about the format and the dashes... I'll be back.

Re: Cryptomania

Saw the transparent dashes as well, but just thought they were there to 'keep the text in line' :).
Spoiler:
and btw: I didn't know you could set the colour to 'transparent, I always used #E4E4E4 (I think) to match the Nord grey, but this makes more sense

Re: Cryptomania

Hel, have a look at the dashes over and below the headline, Bolaf used different "-" signs for them, some of them are a bit lower than the others when you quote his post (instead of copying the posted text), they seem to have a pattern...
Even when copying the text, if you select "find" in word, you'll see not all dashes are the same.... too much work to be a coincidence?

All the lines have 34 characters (including spaces)
except for: "transparent for the almighty NSA._ ", this one has 35.

The "dash lines" above the headlines, below them and at the bottom of the text, have 35 characters each...

I will bring thee to dashes upon the earth
in the sight of all them that behold thee.
Ezekiel 28:18

The text is just an erythrean clupea (which was fun to write, though), but those dashes... Bruja's getting the grips. ;)

Bruja 12-09-2013 03:52 PM

Re: Cryptomania

I'd swear that's not exactly what Ezekiel said
Back to my dashes...

Replaced the lower dashes and wrote asterisks instead (easier to see, at least for me)
*−−−*−**−−****−****−**−−−**−*−*−−−*
−*−**−**−−****−−**−***−*−***−*−**−*
*−−−−*−*−−**−*−*−−−**−−*−**−*−*−−−*

Still working on it...

[edit] I've just noticed you wrote "erythrean clupea" I love that!
