I have just gotten off he phone with the person who is setting up the Boronia venue..
They are very interested in hosting us. EDPL sides are part of their business plan and they have actually arranged the venue so the pool tables are given a little privacy and are less likely to be disturbed by the general public.
The venue is being opened as a sports bar/club type arrangement with VIP areas, Sports Lounge, Beer Garden etc.
The venue covers approx 1200 square meters across 2 levels and 2 buildings.
They are currently working on building permits, though have mentioned that to date the council have not been "difficult".
Once permits come through they are planning on a 2 million dollar fit out of the buildings, expected to take approx 3 months.
The only real concern is that they do not currently envisage opening until late March, early April so we may need a temporary venue until opening.
They like the idea of having a transplanted club with a solid base and reputable name. The age bracket of our members suits their demographic and they are generally quite enthusiastic about the whole arrangement.
I will be meeting with the owner early next week for a casual chat and just to help cement a relationship and guarantee the opportunity of us being able to select this as a venue.
