End of an Era

Yes I know that saying is used a lot but any small event could well be that if it is important to an individual. Bear with me it'll make sense
(warning - potential rambling)
Many of you would know that I play competition pool (eightball) and that there was the danger that we may not see this year out.
We have. The last game of the season was played last night (Tue 18/9). We won 25-11 having the Fastbreak Pool team heading into the finals having finished 2nd on the ladder and looking forward to doing our best to bring home the trophy.
Bring home the trophy - now there lies a problem.
Last night, after 14 years, was also the final night that the Fastbreak Pool Team played at the Fastbreak Pool hall. As of the end of this year, the venue has been sold and will become a nightclub.
I have been a proud member for 12, Captain for 9 and President for 8 of those 14 years. I have seen the club be present in 8 finals placing 3 twice, a second place (by 1 frame) and 3 premierships - one of which was a 27-9 win after an undefeated year.
We have had 8 players receive either 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the best player awards and had past player go on to make state and national teams.
Myself and the team would like to thank the owners (in order of ownership) Matt & Annette, followed by Steve, then Steve with Mario and finally Mario with Grant.
We would also like to thank Sars and olivia (Liv) who have kept our glasses topped up on more than one occasion.
The team will stay together. We are as much a family as we are a team. Just at this point we're not quite sure where.
So last night, the team packed up our equipment for the last time. Sat back and raised our glasses to what has been a wonderful 14 years.
