Questioning
Clumsy movie visit
There is a cinema in town which holds a "Sneak Preview" on Sunday evening, which means that you pay only 5 euro's for a ticket but you have no idea what the movie will be
Last night, me and 2 of my roommates decided to go. Of course, we were a little late in thinking of it, so at 21h one of the guys still had to take a shower and I had to fix my bike. As the movie started at 21:30 you can imagine we would have to hurry
At 21:25 we were ready - and no, it didn't take so long to fix my bike
Any how, 2 of us were determined we could easily make it while the other was ready to bail
This meant we lost one minute talking him back into it with sound arguments like "they won't matter when we're late, there are only commercials at first any way" (which there weren't
) and "don't tell me you cycle so slow that you can't make it anymore!" and of course the best "don't be a bore, lets go."
. Naturally, he gave in
As it is pitch dark around 21:30 we needed lights on our bicycles - the cops around here are quite strict on that and seem to be checking it all the time
I think that a good thing, but it's a bit of a bother when you're in a hurry and can't find your lights. For we all have such an old bike that the lighting which was originally on it doesn't work anymore
.
I was pretty happy with myself for remembering what I had done with my lights, as I hadn't used them in quite a while - I have been walking a lot lately
So, I put them on my bag and guess what? No, the batteries didn't give out
But while we were half way my red light (on the back) fell on the road
I didn't stop to pick it up
Luckily, we didn't ran into any police checks. We did get some complaints (or rather shouts) from people who thought we were driving way too fast through the city centre
At 21:33 we arrived at the cinema and I noticed that I had forgotten to bring my cycle-lock.
Just great! Luckily,
my roommate had a big lock with him and we could lock our bicycles together. Phew.
And guess what...
So I could have stopped to pick up my light
Oh well, nothing to be done about that now. Or at least, I didn't feel like cycling back and find that light all crushed by cars
We weren't sure what to think about the movie - the picture on the ticket showed a dead man with a dog next to it. We hadn't heard about any new movie with such a scene in it... and we disagreed on the genre. I voted action movie (as I wanted it to be), and had even figured out that the dog must be the one to have shot the man
The others voted for some life story like movie with loads of feelings and stuff and a bit artistic because that kind of movies are often showed there
Total lack of imagination
Of course, none of us was right And yes, I spilled some beer on myself during the break
Lets say it could be worse, as I've spilled it on others before
After the movie, I tried to open my bag - put I ended up with only the zip tear thingy in my hand. But some guy saved me by pointing out that you could just tare that zipper open
Not that it helped, for I still couldn't find my (white) light back
I searched my bag 3 times, no luck.
So, on my way home I had no lights at all
Totally against my principals, but not enough to make me go walking
Ow, and I did take a movie poster with me when we left the cinema
But I drove to close next to a fence and so the poster hit it and fell on the road... Or at least I heard a noise like that then and when I came home my poster was gone
So I figure that is what happened.
Well, that was my evening out. I guess I was lucky
I didn't get caught by the police (which would be a 50 euro fine), didn't bump into anything or anyone with my bike, didn't have my bike stolen, didn't trip down the stairs in the cinema, wasn't too late for the movie (and denied access) and I did like the movie. All in all, a good closure to the Sunday
