Garbage Bags (Victor Vroo)

I put the garbage out this morning and this (Dutch) poem came to mind.
Luckely I found a translation so I can share it here on Nord
Garbage Bags
The way they in the morning
on the side walk lean against
each other as they seek warmth
in their plastic coats,
standing there waiting, grey,
formless, full of thrown out
life, at the same time fragile
and defenceless. You almost
want to bring them back
inside, your parents
waiting for the bus.
I don't think I'll ever see this - I'll probably be outside too, just to be sure they're really gone by bus

What I'm going to say is really superficial SFM, but this reminded me that as a kid I used to keep my rubbish in my pockets...because I felt sorry for it
...but don't tell anyone.
Interesting poem - I don't know how it comes across in Dutch, but it seems to translate well into English. Thank-you for posting this

Even more superficial: I know a girl who says it causes bad luck and poverty to bring down the garbage. So she never does - which leads to endless discussions in her shared flat...
