I never translated Latin poems, at least not that I remember - after 2 years of Latin and Greek we could choose between and I chose the latter. Mostly because hardly anybody did, but maybe also because it seemed easier
at least I noticed it was
.
But I found this translated poem and I really like it
Well, "finding" is a big word: I must have run into it before as it is on a post-it note on my wall
I hate her -
yet I love her too.
You ask how this can be.
I only know that it is true
And bitter agony.

I don't think it is the whole poem: as far as I understand this man wrote longer poems. So I guess it is just a verse
I'm not sure how the whole poem goes though and to me this verse is quite enough

Well i did take up Latin in highschool and we did some works from him as well, i should have to look at my parents though if there is still some translated texts there, i do remember i liked most of his work but other then that
and don't you think it could be one and the same poem these two? Cause often the translations can be very different but still somewhat alike and it sure looks like this here...Posted 10-14-2008 at 09:07 PM by angelstar
