ok. I'm sitting here minding my own business when there's a knock at my door.


"Can I see your identification?"

"uh..sure.." i go to get my id for the deputy at the door.

"Here ya go officer"

"Can you step outside for a minute?"

"yea"

We walk outside, to my mailbox..or rather where my mailbox used to be.

there's this young kid (16 or so ) and his friend, sitting in a Monte Carlo beside my lot.

apparently they had taken out both my box and the one in the adjacent lot.

He also took out the telephone box for the whole neighborhood as well.
we end up agreeing for the kid to replace my box. I even offered to lend him my shovel to help out.
Now after an hour i'm supposed to call the deputy and let him know if the kid does replace my box, or he's being taken to jail for the accident.

I told the deputy I was glad my kids were inside. The car had hit where they like to play. If my kids had been hurt someone would have had their hands full
Funny thing? I never heard any of it.
Now folks are walking up and down the road looking at my disabled mail box i have my 15 minutes of fame today.
