IT'S NOT FAIR

well for those of you who know me, you will know how excited i have been about the new broken sword game. i ordered it on thursday, it was released on friday. it arrived this morning. i hauled my hangover ridden backside out of bed and stumbled downstairs to install it.
it installed perfectly, everything went smoothly and took less than 4 minutes. excellent i thought. i made a cup of coffee, took 2 painkillers and settled down in front of the pc to begin my point and click marathon weekend!
i opened the game and.......... "there is a direct x 9.0 error". so i went on the net, downloaded the newest version of direct x 9.0c and crossed my fingers.
again as soon i went to play the damn thing "there is a direct x 9.0 error". so i phone the THQ helpline ( as their website is worse than useless!) guess what? my 8 month old pc's graphic card isn't big enough. to play my game i will have to drive a 40 mile round trip, buy a 128mb video graphics card for £40, remove and uninstall my current graphics card(if that is possible) install the new card (again if that is possible) and hope that the one i have is compatible with the game. add to this the fact that i can just about get on the net, and the safest route would be to hire a computer guy to come round and do it for me at £25 an hour, the grand total for the game including petrol would be around £95!!! it's going to be a bloody expensive game, don't you think? i am absolutely gutted. i have been waiting for this game for nearly 3 years.i actually cried frustrated tears when my hubby uninstalled it. it's going on amazon and i hope it sells asap because the longer i sit here and it's there in front of me, laughing at my paltry pc graphics, i am soooooo tempted to make that trip, buy that card and pay that guy.
waaaaaaaaah IT'S NOT FAIR. i am actually stamping my feet in temper. For a start i should still be in bed, sleeping off the 2 bottles of wine my friend and i demolished last night. but i'm sitting here in a temper, with a headache and a frustration level of 350.
bah

Aww that stinks. I'm really surprised your 8 month old graphics card didn't measure up.
Grapics cards are easier to install now than they used to be for the most part unless they are somehow integrated with the motherboard (doubtful).
Wow...then I won't bother with the game as my computer is over 4 years old. Laptop is 6 years old lolPosted 09-17-2006 at 12:23 AM by Ducky
