Well, English is not my native language of course, but I don't think that those signs, or the symbols on a map, themselves are called 'legend'
. A legend is the whole list of symbols together, which comes with a map and explains what each symbol stands for, like these for instance:
The word comes from the Latin 'legenda', meaning 'things that must be read', so basically the legend is a key to how a map should be 'read'.
Then again, you could argue of course that the whole Tshirt together forms a list....
